Auray Shockmount for Rode Podcast Mics and Mics with M20 Thread

The Auray SM-RM20 is a suspension-style shockmount designed to be used with broadcast and condenser mics that sport an M20 threaded studs. The shockmount is crafted out of metal to ensure dependability.

A key feature of this shockmount is its ability to prevent structural-borne vibrations from the stand itself, which can result in hours of editing audio if left unattended at the source. Since this shockmount effectively isolates the mic against such vibration, you will not have to worry about this undesirable, yet all-too-common problem in the studio.

The SM-RM20 utilizes heavy-duty elastic bands to suspend and isolate the microphone inside the basket. A threaded socket provides a secure locking connection between the shockmount and microphone. This connection is so secure that you can suspend your mic downwards from a boom arm. To facilitate optimum microphone placement, the angle of the shockmount is both adjustable and lockable.

Classic Studio Shockmount
The SM-RM20 is compatible with many broadcast and condenser microphones that sport an M20 threaded stud. Whether you're mounting your microphone in an upright position, or suspending it down from a boom arm, this shockmount is an effective studio tool for securing a microphone and minimizing noise.
Eliminates Noise
Even the slightest vibrations from the floor can turn into hours of troubleshooting. This suspension shockmount will prevent unwanted and troublesome vibrations, which can transmit through a mic stand, from affecting your microphone's performance.
Metal 5/8"-27 Mic Stand Adapter
A metal mic stand adapter ensures a durable and secure connection between the shockmount and mic stand. The standard 5/8"-27 thread fits any mic stand.
Locking Knob
The angle of the shockmount can be locked into position with the locking knob for perfect aim to ensure your talent is always on mic.
All-Metal Construction
The SM-RM20 is a durable studio accessory that is built to last. The all-metal construction ensures microphone security in professional and home studios.
Heavy-Duty Elastic Bands
The heavy-duty elastic bands suspend the microphone in the center of the basket, and they prevent shocks and vibrations from traveling through the mic stand and reaching the microphone.

Auray BAI-2X Two-Section Broadcast Arm with Internal Springs and Integrated XLR Cable

The Auray BAI-2X is a two-section broadcast arm with internal springs and an integrated XLR cable. This versatile and sturdy broadcast arm is great for studio as well as home use. It's ideal for broadcast, voiceover, and podcasts.

The BAI-2X broadcast arm is designed with internal springs that provide a clean and sleek look. The internal balance springs are precision engineered to support and hold in place microphones of up to 5 lb / 2.27kg. The design also minimizes handling noise when re-positioning the arm. The broadcast arm features a standard 5/8"-27 microphone stud mount that is compatible with most shockmounts and microphone clips. The angle of the microphone stud mount can be adjusted and secured with the locking knob, and the angle is maintained when re-positioning the arm. This eliminates the need to readjust it every time the arm is moved. With an extension of up to 40 inches, and the ability to rotate the arm 360°, the BAI-2X allows for precise microphone placement.

The BAI-2X also features a heavy-duty combo mount that consists of a sturdy C-clamp and a heavy-metal desktop mount. The C-clamp is capable of fastening onto desktops up to 2.3" thick. The C-clamp's slim design minimizes the clearance needed to mount it between a desk and wall. The desktop mount detaches from the C-clamp and provides the option of permanent installation to a desktop with the mounting screws (included). A 14" riser is included for adding height to the broadcast arm in order to extend over computer or studio monitors.

Auray WBF-BDM Foam Windscreen for Broadcast Dynamic Mics (Black)

The black Auray WBF-BDM foam windscreen is tailored to fit most broadcast dynamic microphones with a 2" diameter such as the Rode PodMic and the Shure SM7B. It's a practical and simple solution that minimizes vocal plosive sounds of announcers and singers who work up close to the microphone.

In recording or podcast studios, it will also reduce noise from moving air produced by air conditioning, fans, or ventilation systems, up to 8 dB with only minimal high-frequency loss. The hypoallergenic and washable foam also shields your microphone from dust, debris, and moisture that can damage your microphone's capsule.

Acoustic Foam
The windscreen simplifies recording podcasts or vocals with a broadcast dynamic microphone. When recording at home or in the office, you'll need to reduce the noise from moving air caused by ventilation systems, fans, or air conditioners without muffling the sound. Rather than turning off the AC or fan while you record, simply slip the windscreen over your microphone to minimize noise due to moving air.
Minimizes Vocal Plosives
If you prefer to work close to the microphone for those great low frequencies from the proximity effect, you're bound to incur the drastic P and B sounds that seem like miniature explosions. As an alternative to moving further away from the microphone, the windscreen minimizes those disruptive vocal plosives while allowing you to stay close to the mic.
Protects against Damage
Dirt, dust, and even the moisture from your breath can damage a mic capsule. This simple foam windscreen shields against harmful debris and moisture, and it prolongs the life of your microphone.

question

How close do you have to be to the mic when recording vocals?
Asked by: Anonymous
The manual says 2 inches or less. I agree -- voices are awesome at that distance and background sounds minimized or eliminated.

question

Will I need a cloudlifter to get good sound out of this mic? I was planning on using it with a Focusrite Scarlette Solo.
Asked by: Peter
I use the Procaster with my H4n Pro recorder for podcasts and voiceover work, and, for me, no preamp is needed. I speak relatively softly, so I have the mike level set fairly high on the H4n Pro -- 85-90 (out of 100), and that regularly hits -12 on the meters, which sounds perfect. I LOVE this microphone!

question

Can I use this mic to record vocals for music? Im curious.
Asked by: Luis G. B.
Absolutely! Large diaphragm dynamics require a bit of gain, so you might want to use a mixer or a gain booster of some sort. But these types of microphones work great with aggressive vocals, especially rock vocals. The key is to remember that every microphone sounds different on every source. But I've used this in my studio on a lot of different sources, including song vocals.

question

I know this mic has an internal pop filter, but does anyone use an external as well? If so, what are you using?
Asked by: John K.
The Procaster is an excellent mic. and the internal pop-filter seems to function extremely well. However, I purchased an Auray PFN-6 which I use with my some of my other microphones.
