Vello ES-62 overview

  • 1Description

The dedicated Vello ES-62 Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Canon's EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens. It is primarily used to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of it. A dedicated hood is crafted to perfectly suit the specific focal length of the lens it is designed for. Additionally, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. Also, since the end of the lens is extended, you get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The bayonet mount is designed to also work in the reversed position, allowing the hood to be placed backwards over the lens for a more compact storage solution.

Designed to accommodate the exact angle of view of the camera's lens
Minimizes flare and ghosting by blocking out stray light
Protects your lens from accidental impact and the elements

    Vello ES-62 reviews

ES-62 Dedicated Lens Hood is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 135.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok little hood This hood is ok for light use. I am not crazy over the fact that it is snap-on as opposed to screw-on like the one for my zoom. The squeeze buttons on the sides are annoying and hard to coordinate with each other to get the hood to snap on evenly, meaning you one side snaps but not the other, then one pops off as you try to snap on the side that didn't in the first place! Also, the hood is not very sturdy, especially the snapping parts that hold it on, so you need to take care putting it on and off. Luckily the fast lens I bought it for is mostly for low-light applications so I won't need it very much!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly made Have to force it on and off which strips the gears if the lense is in Autofocus. You have to set the lense to manual, and then have a death grip in the focusing ring. Forget about taking on and off and revering it. I am sorry I bought this and the others. I have had mixed results with anything Vello. Hopefully I have finally learned my lesson.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very functional lens hood. Fits perfect All these Vello lens hoods are very good. I purchased several for different sized lenses of varying focal lengths and filter sizes and they all fit perfectly on the ends of my lenses when in use and were easily flipped back on the lens when stored in my bag. They all have very solid fits, keep the stray light out, and more to the point, protected my lenses. In one case, a lens of mine did a face plant on the ground with the camera body attached because a tripod fell forward and all that cracked was the lens hood. Both camera, lens, filter, and tripod were all okay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lens hood for 50 mm This hood fits the nifty 50 very nicely and seems to made of good material. Since the nifty 50 can shoot in lower light this is a helpful accessory that is worth considering. It fit my lens and I am pleased with the performance of the hood. I was concerned that it would not fit well and that the materials of the hood would not be sturdy. Upon installation I found that my concerns were not warranted. This is a good lens hood that should provide years of service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Lens Hood for the Price Purchased this lens hood recently and have used it several times. Very satisfied with it so far. Would definitely recommend this product to others especially since it costs significantly less than the same item made by Canon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What to say about this lens hood... This lens hood is a decent starter hood. If you are looking for something sturdy...this isn't for you. The adapter screws onto the end of the lens like a filter and the hood has two grip buttons to attach the hood to the adapter. It is held on by 4 blade type fins that just slide into a groove on the adapter. I've been able to pop it off a few times already just by slightly pulling on it. Feels like those blades can easily break.
