Vello ET-67 overview

  • 1Description

The dedicated Vello ET-67 Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Canon's EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro lens. It is primarily used to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of it. A dedicated hood is crafted to perfectly suit the specific focal length of the lens it is designed for. Additionally, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. Also, since the end of the lens is extended, you get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The bayonet mount is designed to also work in the reversed position, allowing the hood to be placed backwards over the lens for a more compact storage solution.

Designed to accommodate the exact angle of view of the camera's lens
Minimizes flare and ghosting by blocking out stray light
Protects your lens from accidental impact and the elements

    Vello ET-67 reviews

ET-67 Dedicated Lens Hood is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from It Rattles I just received the lens hood & noticed that it did not have the black non reflective felt like the typical canon hood. A little disappointing, it did cost $.Then I put it on my lens to find out that it is a loose fit & rattles whenever I move the camera. It is annoying & I am exchanging it the Canon ET-67.I gave it 1 star because it appears to be the right shape to shade the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As good as OEM Seriously, OEM Canon hoods are a complete rip-off. Normally 3rd party hoods have some drawbacks to them; they don't have the felt lining, they don't rotate as smoothly, they're made of cheap quality materials, they don't clip on tightly etc... This Vello hood has none of those problems. It is lined with felt to reduce reflections, the rotation is VERY smooth (smoother than some of my OEM Canon lenses I dare say), and it clicks into place with great positive feedback. Don't buy the Canon. Buy this one instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value As a working pro I fully understand the advantage of paying for manufacturer accessories most of the time but I'm not a 'label snob' and I try to save money particularly when it's for non-critical backup components.I already have the Canon version of this hood and it has the anti-reflective 'felt' coating inside. Accidental stray light is simply a problem to be solved or even better if it's avoided so apart from a slightly slicker fit, the Canon version doesn't perform any better and costs almost three times as much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite satisfactory for the money A worthy substitute for the Canon lens. Yes, as mentioned below, it's a little wiggly when attached but I generally don't shake a thousand dollars' worth of camera/lens combo hard enough for it to matter. The interior finish does not seem very durable - be careful not to scratch it. Sometime down the road it'll probably need to be repainted. For the price, not a dealbreaker.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good alternative This is a good alternative to the stock hood from Canon. I purchased it because I was lead to believe the 100mm Macro f/2.8L lens didn't come with a hood, but it in fact did. Comparing it to the stock hood I prefer the stock hood much more because of the velvet interior. It simply just works better for cutting out stray light inside the hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely first rate Perfect fit & finish. Matte interior stops reflected light. Great price compared to canon model. The fact that canon doesn't include a hood with their lenses and then charges unreasonable prices for their hoods really shortchanges their loyal customers! Thanks to Vello for giving us a reasonably priced high quality option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent deep shade Lens hood bayoneted on just as well as my Canon lens hoods. Provides nice, deep shade on front element of 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. I think the Canon hood is over-priced. Hint: I use a silver sharpie to make a mark on the back portion of my hoods to quickly line up the hood's female bayonet with the lens' male bayonet tabs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit, and a great price After looking to spend nearly $50 locally and online for a lens hood for my new lens, this was a nice surprise. Fits perfectly, seems that it is built very strong and should last many years. Don't spend the $$$ for a bona fide Canon lens hood, when this works exactly the same for a lot less.
