Vello EW-60C overview

  • 1Description

The dedicated Vello EW-60C Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Canon's EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6, II, III, IV, V, EF 18-55mm, IS, IS II (except STM), and EF 28-90mm lenses. It is primarily used to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of it. A dedicated hood is crafted to perfectly suit the specific focal length of the lens it is designed for. Additionally, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. Also, since the end of the lens is extended, you get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The bayonet mount is designed to also work in the reversed position, allowing the hood to be placed backwards over the lens for a more compact storage solution.

Note: Not compatible with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM version

Designed to accommodate the exact angle of view of the camera's lens
Minimizes flare and ghosting by blocking out stray light
Protects your lens from accidental impact and the elements

    Vello EW-60C reviews

EW-60C Dedicated Lens Hood is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 141.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from This lens hood is hard to get on. I bought this for my 18-55mm lens that goes with my Canon Rebel XS. It does work well at blocking unwanted sunlight. The thing I do not like is that it is hard to put on and take off. I have to take tne lens filter off to get it on and off. I did not have this problem with the ET-60 lens hood. The ET-60 goes on fine with the lens filter on. I am just leaving it on and do not remove it. At present that seems to work fine. I take a lot of photographs. It is more than a hobby. I have taken some senior photos, weddings, sports, etc. I love taking pictures. I would recommend this but I would be sure to tell the individual about the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really like this hood I'm a photography newbie. I recently purchased the Canon EOS Rebel T3 kit with the 18mm-55mm lens. After doing some research, I found this was the correct model for this lens. I never encountered too much lens flare to begin with, but the other function of this lens hood is what prompted me to give it 5 stars. You see, it acts as a great lens protector and that's exactly what it did for my camera. I dropped it twice and without the hood, my lens would have been ruined. But the Vello EW-60 did it's job and I still have an intact lens. Buy it. You won't regret it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does it's job well A bit fiddly to fit on. I put it on lens till it began to grip. Then had to hold the lens ring steady with other hand. While giving the hood an extra gentle twist to get it to fit on tight and snug. Removed it in same way. Put it on again & decided to leave it on as it fitted well with lens filter & Cap attached. And small enough to fit in camera bag without the need to remove. Have read and fully understand why other reviews say It keeps falling off Thus, as with my own fitting procedure only gave it 4 stars. But once on with that 'little extra twist' it works very well in shading out extra light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits the kit lens This lens hood fit my Canon 18-55mm kit lens just nicely. It twists on to the outside of the lens but once it's on, it takes time to remove because it's so tight. I just keep it on all the time because it doesn't protrude too far. However this also means it doesn't shade out much light in most situations. At the very least you have an extra layer to protect your lens and filter (if you have one).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lens hood for T3i Kit Lens I got this for the T3i's kit lens, a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II. While a great lens hood for the price, it is a little tricky to put on. It took me a while to realize that unless I disable the AF on the lens, I would probably wear the gears down inside the lens and that you have to rotate the lens to get this thing on. Takes some practice and finesse, but I got it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EW-60C Dedicated Lens Hood by Vello I just bought this lens hood for my Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS II Kit Lens, not willing to spend so much on a OEM hood just for a cheap lens. The hood was quite tricky to put on the camera and I had to force it to hook firmly on the lens, but it's ok since this lens has such a tiny focusing ring that now I can focus with the hood that is really very firm on the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved My Camera's Life! I was in the market for a lens hood for some time and I finally settled on Pearstone's. The price was great and functionally I saw no difference between their's and Canon's much pricier version. Just two days after purchasing, I was shooting in a concrete, underground garage and I walked away from my tripod to adjust the light and the next thing I heard was my camera crashing onto the concrete. My T2i survived with only minor physical damage but judging from the cracks and damage to my lens hood, my lens would not have been so lucky without it... Get one. It's a lifesaver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality Hood I am new to the DSLR world, but I can tell you that the hood is very solidly made, fits my Rebel T3 like a glove, easy to put on and take off, very secure when on the lens.
