The dedicated Vello HB-32 Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Nikon's 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR & 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED lenses. The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area. The bayonet mount is designed to also work in the reversed position, allowing the hood to be placed backwards over the lens for a more compact storage solution.

So far so good. I went for the original offered by Nikon, when I saw this alternative at B&H website. It is used in the 18-140mm Nikkor lens. I have installed permanently a UV filter and then I use either a warm filter or a polarizer, etc. with no issue. The hood clicks behind the filters. No problems so far.

question

As in picture, it showed that the hood is bendable.. Is it make from plastic or rubber?
Asked by: Anonymous
The hood is not bendable, in the one image the hood is actually reversed on the lens for storage (which could leave the impression that it was folded backwards, whereas it is actually just reverse-mounted on the lens). It is made of plastic.

question

Would this fit to Nikon 18-35mm?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, no, the Vello HB-32 Dedicated Lens Hood is not compatible with the Nikon 18-35mm lens. If you own the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED Lens, then the Nikon HB-23 Bayonet Lens Hood or the Vello HB-23 Dedicated Lens Hood would be the correct lens hood for your needs.

question

can this be used on the canon 18-135mm lense ?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, the Vello HB-32 is for select Nikon lenses only. A compatible hood for the Canon EF-S 18-135mm lens would be the Vello EW-73B Dedicated Lens Hood B&H # VELHCEW73B. Please see the image below for reference.

question

Would this fit a 67MM lens
Asked by: Anonymous
That lens is designed for the Nikon 18-140, 18-135, 18-105 and 18-70. Those lenses all take 67mm diameter filters. However, with that said, those are the only lenses for which this lens hood is designed.

question

Does this go over the body of the lens or screw on the end of it? I'm wondering if i could still put a filter on it with this hood on.
Asked by: Cory
Hi there! Yes you can put a filter on the lens. This hood will work the same, night (upside down) or day (extension to avoid sunglare)

question

Can i use it on a AF-S 18-300mm 1:3.5-6.3G lens? Its lens cap is also 67mm
Asked by: Prince A.
No, you need an HB-39 lens hood. The lens hood size depends on the mechanical mounting on the outer circumference of the lens assembly. The lens diameter of 67mm refers to the area inside the front lens structure that is threaded - that is the size you need for lens filters (polarizing filter, UV filter, etc). I'd go with a cheaper, non-Nikon HP-39 equivelent hood myself - plastic is plastic.
