Mountainsmith Trekker FX Hiking Pole / Monopod

The Mountainsmith Trekker FX Hiking Pole / Monopod performs dual duties as a hiking pole and a monopod for a camera or lightweight camcorder. (The manufacturer recommends a maximum load capacity of 3 lb for the monopod.)

The Trekker FX is composed of 7075 aluminum alloy, which has a strength comparable to many steels. But at less than 1 lb, the Trekker FX should pass the "curl test" for even the most discriminating back-country explorer.

The hiker transforms into the nature photographer with alacrity. Removing the top cap of the hiking pole reveals a standard 1/4"-20 male bolt, which fits virtually every point & shoot and DSLR on the market today, as well as most camcorders. A threaded washer tightens the fit against spring-loaded female camera mounts.

The Trekker FX has three telescoping sections, which extend from 26 to 54". The EVA foam handle is molded to suit a hand's grip, and the wrist strap is adjustable.
