This is a nice cable with a major feature not mentioned in the B&H description. It is designed to connect a professional piece of gear like a Sound Devices 7xxT series recorder (with built-in timecode generator) to an iDevice like an iPad. The purpose being to jam-sync recorder timecode into an app like Movie-Slate. The trick is that the recorder with the LEMO connector drives signal out at line level and the iPad input is at Mic level, about a 100:1 mismatch. Remote Audio carefully designed an attenuator circuit into the cable so that there is no level mismatch. I tested the cable with the Denecke and Ambient TC apps and they both work fine, although the signal level is a little hot. The signal level with Movie-Slate is a little low but works well with no problems. This means RA carefully chose the attenuation value to be right down the middle so all the typical iPad TC apps work properly. I had a few email Q's and A's with RA and they were totally nice and informative about this and a couple other cables I bought. Great company. Great cable. I also bought two other TC cables from RA, both very nice.

question

Which direction does the TC travel on this cable? Does it output through the 3.5mm end or the 5 pin lemo end?
Asked by: Anonymous
This cable is made to send time code from a TC generator, using the Lemo connection, going into an iPhone or iPad's 3.5mm mic level input.

question

Can this cable provide Tentacle sync to a Red?
Asked by: Anonymous
I do not believe this cable will work. While we do not sell the Tentacle System, I was able to find this diagram on their website that shows cabling going from the Tentacle to a RED camera. RED cameras have a 4 Pin LEMO, not 5 Pin.http://bit.ly/2hI7TYMWe do have B&H #RECAZERXEPIC, which is a TRS 3.5mm to 4 Pin Lemo. This cable may work, but you really will want to consult directly with Tentacle for their opinion on the matter first.

question

Can I use this cable to feed time code from a Sound Devices 633 or 702T into the mic in on my Canon 5D mkii?
Asked by: Anonymous
I don't believe so. This cable is designed specifically for jamming timecode from an iPhone/iPad using the Denecke Timecode Generator app to your slate or recorder.

question

Can I use this cable to jam my Denecke SB-3 with my Sound Devices 788T?
Asked by: John M.
No this is for iOS devices. You need the single ring 1/8 connector. You need to cables to do it.
