Porta Brace SP-3G reviews

Universal Shoulder Pad is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not cheap but necessary I got to admit that at first I was a little disappointed of the Pad. In fact it is just some (3) layers of foam, wrapped in Nylon with some velcro. You can disassemble it completely, and than you got that feeling that you could have build it yourself for less than what you payed for. But on the other Hand, why want you build it yourself and End up with something that looks like DiY, when you can buy some that, at least, looks and works professional. And it works just great with my Rod system. It takes the Heavy pressure of my shoulder. And the fact that I'm a huge Porta Brace Fan, I got to have it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect with Modifications This is a terrific design. It is very comfortable. The only issue I had with it was the fact that the foam is level, however the slope of most people's shoulders is not. So when it was sitting on my shoulder it would cause the rig to tilt a little to the right with the downward slope of my shoulder. But thank's to the well thought-out design all I had to do was to open up the pouch that holds the foam (it secures with velcro) and add another piece of foam to the outer edge under the right side rail. Worked like a charm. The stock foam feels a little stiff. Might try some softer foam at some point. Overall I think this is very well designed and I would definitely recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, firm pad with heavy nylon/synthetic covering I use a Red One MX with heavy PL mount Zeiss & Schneider lenses on a home-made shoulder rig (from RED and Tilta parts), and I needed a big, firm shoulder pad to take the weight of the camera, FIZ rig, Monitor and wireless video. This pad spreads the weight out over my shoulder, and hardly compresses at all with 20+ lbs of weight on it. It REALLY helps steady my shots. The ONLY problem, and why I deducted a star, is that the attachment point is designed as a fold-over flap with heavy Velcro on the inside. If you want to attach the pad to some rig that doesn't have an opening designed to allow the pad's flap to go through it, you can't attach it. The Pad would have been better designed if the flap was left off, and Porta just include a 3-inch wide, heavy-duty Velcro strip so operators can attach the pad to their rig the way they chose. I did just that, adding my own Velcro outside of the pad, and on the shoulder contact point of my rig - works like a champ! For the price, you can't go wrong with this pad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Universal shoulder pad by Porta Brace Finally there is a quick and easy solution to the shoulder cushioning problem for the video cameras that require rail support. It peals off partially so that it can be left on the rails while the camera is on a tripod. When it is time to put it on the shoulder, you just take it off the tripod and velcro the pad quickly under the rails. The best part...It is black ...not that awful blue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy and versatile Nice, big and soft, with numerous flaps and Velcro to allow it to be mounted any way to almost any equipment. Typical great Porta Brace quality, and it looks like it will wear well and last a long time. It was a little too bulky to use with the particular camcorder I had intended it for, but I'm keeping this because it will undoubtedly come in handy for some future rig.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly useful! Using this with both a DSLR rig with rods, and with a super 16mm film camera. Excellent cushioning. The non slip material which rests on the shoulder works well. Any of the three layers of foam of different thicknesses can be removed to suit one's preference. Very useful, well made product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shoulder pad out there! This shoulder pad is the best option for a camera mounted on rods. It is soft, comfortable, durable, easy to put on and take off and offers Porta Brace quality. Such a great value since it is cheaper than many of the uncomfortable pads out there. I would highly recommend!
