Universal Softbox with Colored Gels Kit for Portable Flash (Small) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, Effective, Good Value This product is a nice alternative to a hard plastic dome diffuser for some situations. When you are shooting straight on and the dome diffuser is a bit to harsh this product is great. Softens the light up nicely, doesn't get in your way, and has the added bonus of color gels. It's not perfect, as the build quality leaves a lot to be desired and I could easily see frequent use killing the velcro. Also the tabs that secure the box to the camera have gaps, and some light does leak out. This could be an issue if trying to use the product to bounce flash backwards, as slits of harsh light escape. But for the money it is a nice specialty product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from El Cheapo!!! The unit is light weight and travels well. I love the size. It happens to fit inside the case for my SB-910. That is extremely handy. I like anything that is compact and makes me more organized. I am using two rubber bands to keep the soft box tight on the Speedlight. I always keep rubber bands around on jobs and I choose not to use the Velcro that came with it. I prefer to be minimal. This works really well and has decent gels. I use the colored gels to enhance performances and to create warm tones for commercial work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool to have in your camera bag A great addition to anyone's camera bag. I did a color wheel experiment under fluorescent light with a set camera on a tripod and ran through all the gels, no gel, no softbox and bounced between the AWB and the Fluorescent setting. The results were impressive (and fun to do.) Although it is not a great softbox alone (hence, the 4 stars,)it is a great tool to compensate for various light conditions. Camera was a Canon Rebel T3i with a Speedlite 430X II flash. The fact that this item folds down flat to about 1/4 thick makes it a no brainer addition to my bag. The price is a bonus.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from On Second Thought.... I liked the concept of having a softbox with pre-cut gels for the portable flash. The gels are a nice grade of plastic and do add a nice color tone to the pictures. The softbox itself is rather poorly made. Would prefer if the softbox came with a wrap-around velcro strap as opposed to the little strips that you attach to your flash unit. Opted not to go that route. I would consider spending a few dollars more for a better made softbox and just get gels separately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good softbox for the money It is lightweight, inexpensive, and does the job. Yes, you can get a more expensive product, but it does the job. The big issue is the velcro. Since I sew, I got some velcro, and sewed elastic around it. I then have it velcroed to my flash, and then this velcros to the velcro part on the flash. That way, I do not have any sticky garbage on my flash or on this part. I highly recommend heading to the fabric store for some items, to help out with flashes, backdrops, or anything else that might need velcro or sticky cloth labels.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not particularly effective as a diffuser Although this product is a decent value, particularly if you want to use colored gels with your flash, it doesn't really accomplish its core goal, which is to act as a softbox. The diffusion effect is very subtle compared to other real diffusers. If you're using a particularly powerful flash setting, it's almost as if the flash cuts through the diffusing material with almost no diffusion. I've found that you can improve it somewhat by draping pieces of tissue paper over the front and securing them with a rubber band.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product I use this with my Canon 600ex flash and 8 year old Canon 20d. This softbox does what it claims, it softens the light nicely. There is only one diffuser on the inside, so one cannot compare it to a true off-camera softbox with an inner and outer diffuser. The colored inserts slip in easily, and work well.
