    Opteka CXS-1 reviews

CXS-1 Video Shoulder Support System is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really sturdy, light and great quality! I'm using this stabilizer with my Canon HF-S10. I was so surprised a the quality of materials used! It took mabe 5 mins. to assemble. I love the way that you can set your camera exactly like you want with the setting knobs. It came packed very professionally. It's not heavy at all but does weigh enough to feel balanced and not too light. I purchased a Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate to add to the ease of switching from tripod to stabilizer and to other stabilizers I use. I highly recommend this item if you want your shots to be steady! It has easily became my favorite stabilizer of 3 diff. I use!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Totally satisfied! I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this. The vast majority were positive so I decided to give it a shot. I'm very satisfied! It's very sturdy and made well. Assembly wasn't too difficult either. If you love shooting handheld and don't want a bulky or heavy stabilizer, this is the perfect product. Gives just the right amount of support and feels natural when using. One side note...I'm shorter (5'8) and this works great for me. I've read some reviews where really tall people have had issues with this product though, and I can see where tall individuals could have problems. I'm quite happy with it though...the way it rests is perfect for how I shoot handheld.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Low Cost Solution It will add stability, but it needs some modifications for use with a Canon 60d/Z-Finder set up. It's front heavy out of the box. 1st I added a 5lb hand weight to the back with some Velcro straps to even the payload and take some weight from my wrist. The shoulder harness has a slot there already that made the Velcro/Weight an easy modification. Big improvement. 2nd, I had to drill and tap some new holes to get the z-finder to the right height. It was low for my eye. After Mods it works great, but get something else if you want to add monitors and other gadgets. I use this rig for bare bones shooting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact andw cheap I was buying a bunch of other stuff for my 7d and wanted to try a shoulder support that didn't cost an arm and a leg. For $, I thought...why not? Even if It doesnt work, its not that big a financial outlay. It is quite small which is great for portability, but I found the primary mounting hole is too close to my face causing me to pull my head back back unnaturally to focus on the lcd properly. I then mounted it on the front hole and moved the handle to the right side hole and it seems to be a good distance now. The 7d was still a little low so i added a 323 quick release which raised it up a few more centimetres more in line with my eye.Its horribly unbalanced, so i added 2kg of ankle weights hanging off the back of the shoulder pad and it is a massive improvement. Only after all these modifications did it start to shine. It definitely provides much more stability than going handheld and it's given me a taste for something a little better like a redrock or jag35. For $ this will work nicely in the interim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value! Using it with a T2i and a Sony 5 Monitorworks great!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from almost good The most useful information regarding this product is that it is designed for short people, probably about 5 feet tall or so, or people without a neck. The design doesn't allow enough extension to bring the camera viewfinder up to the eye. So after using for about 5 minutes or less my neck feels like it is going to snap off from bending over so far. The machining is decent, but not German quality. Some of the pieces have to be bent a bit and forced into place, but luckily these aren't pieces that I will adjust much. I honestly don't even think I will use this anyway, because it is so uncomfortable. Maybe if I duct tape 2 of towels under the shoulder mount to raise this thing up high enough...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well for my GH2 and HMC150! I am using the CXS-1 mostly for wedding and event work and it works well with both my Panasonic setups. I use the optional weight attachment with my HMC150 and it balances nicely. The unit is solid, no plastic parts other than the knobs. Great camera support with a very fair price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This won't work for everyone Nice price, quality build, but... This product isn't going to work for everyone. I'm Average size, 6' tall, that being said this rig is too small for me, instead of positioning the rig on my shoulder and chest I have to position it on my shoulder and arm about 90 degrees from normal position. It would be perfect if it extended the camera out about 2 further, but you're paying for less material I suppose. I still gave it 4 stars because it is cheap (price), and really well built. With a viewfinder it is going to be the perfect distance away from my body.
