The B+W 67mm MRC 103M Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity. This filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic ND Filter I've owned many of these (in a variety of sizes) and continue to buy them as I get new lenses. Keep them clean, and they will work superbly for long exposures. The 3-stop is plenty for evening photography and can stretch an otherwise few-second exposure into one long enough to blur clouds and water, and ghost people out of an image. I've owned the 3-stop and the 10-stop and this gets far more use than the 10-stop ever does. Image quality as it comes through is great, and there are no odd refractions. This is on a 24mm f/4 lens and I see no vignetting as a result of the threaded portion either. I've used them on as wide as a 20mm f/2.8 (35mm camera) without seeing any poor effects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for short to mid-length exposures in low light! Alright, I will give you a very simple yet informative review of this filter, because I thought this would be the only filter I needed. First of all, this is an excellent quality filter. It is perfect for creating the silky-water effect waterfalls in a low-med light forest, for slightly trimming down light levels in general, for blurred car lights on the highway at night, etc, but this is NOT the filter if you expect to get an extended exposure past 1 second if you are in bright daylight (hiking trails/beach). A couple weeks ago, I got this as my first ND filter & I went to the beach with the intention of getting a long exposure of the beach waves in order to make the silky-water effect - using ISO 100 & my max aperture (f/32), the longest exposure I could obtain of the sand/beach was 0.5 seconds before the picture was blown out. Again, this is a great filter, but the 3 stop filter can only go so far. When I set up my tripod over a freeway overpass @ 9:30 at night this July 4th, this filter was perfect - using ISO 100 & f/5.6, I had a 13 second exposure, which allowed perfect blurred lines of all the traffic, without overexposing the light/colors. In low to medium-low light exposures, this filter is perfect, but for medium-long exposures, you need the 3.0 (10 stop) filter. Buy both, you will need them between differently lighted environments. See the attached pictures for yourself. Read my review of the 10 stop filter under the other filter's reviews. Hope this helped!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taking advantage of fast lenses despite very powerful flash I use this filter in a studio kind of surrounding with several Elinchrom flash devices. Their respective rather intense power meant that it was difficult, to say the leas,t to take advantage of fast Leica and Canon lenses, in terms of bokeh and/or emphasis on optical segregation of specific areas. I am quite happy with the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I strongly recommend it for the Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art Lens This is an awesome filter utilized for portraits outside under harsh light conditions. It allows you to shoot wide open and achieve your desired bokeh

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Necessary for Dslr video Bought this to use with a Nikon Dslr for video. Works as expected and the brass fitting is critical to keep the filter from sticking on the lens.
