ZEISS 528007-0000-000 overview

  • 1Description

Originally designed for European Alpine hunters, the Dialyt 18-45x65 Field Spotter Spotting Scope from ZEISS is lightweight, compact, and built for rough use in the field. It is an attractive option for Western hunters here in the U.S., hunters in mountainous areas anywhere, hikers, and nature enthusiasts. This is a straight-viewing, rubber-armored scope with a built-in variable eyepiece. It is water, fog, and dustproof and, unlike draw-tube scopes, is instantly ready for use. Focusing and alignment sights on the objective lens provide fast target acquisition; simply position, focus, and view.

The Dialyt's 18-45x variable eyepiece provides a wide field of view at low magnification and sharp detail at long distances with the higher magnification. This spotter also features multilayer coatings and a large lens diameter of 65mm, providing high light transmission that allows for easy observation at lower magnifications in low-light conditions.

The large magnification range makes it the perfect scope for mountain hunting or for observation in vast, open areas. It is simple to use: change the magnification by turning the eyepiece and focus by turning the objective. The Dialyt Field Spotter Spotting Scope fits easily into a backpack and, if necessary, can be rested on a pack or rock or leaned against a tree for further stabilization at higher magnification. This spotter also has a threaded tripod mount for lengthier periods of observation. The non-slip rubber armoring, besides offering a comfortable grip, provides added protection to the scope from bumps and bruises. It comes with a carrying strap that attaches to the caps of the objective lens and eyepiece for easy transport and optimal protection.

    ZEISS 528007-0000-000 reviews

Dialyt 18-45x65 Field Spotter Spotting Scope (Straight Viewing) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from A compromise I had the scope for about a week. The optics is pretty good. There is some CA which is noticeable. When in focus CA is not that objectionable. When the focus is a bit off or for foreground and background objects CA is clearly visible as green and cyan fringing. For me the deal breaker ended up being usability. Yes, it is intended to be thrown in a backpack which is why I bought it, and yes putting it on some padded rest does work. But the focusing ring is pretty stiff probably to keep the scope sealed and by design it is up front so reaching over the 15 inch length of the scope to grab the objective ring while keeping the scope pointed at what you want to see makes getting a sharp focus at high mags eventually pretty tiresome. So this is really a special purpose scope for backpacking, hunting, etc. applications where the ruggedness of the design may make the compromises described above acceptable. It did not for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Zeiss Dialyt field Spotting Scope I bought this scope because I wanted a scope with strong magnification and from past experience I know that Zeiss build very solid and good quality products. Their optics, clarity and precision have always been very gratifying. I live on the coast and like observing the maritime traffic as well as the wildlife in the vicinity. This scope is very rugged and solid. All in all a well built piece that will withstand everyday field abuse easily and last for a long time. The only minor downside is that you will feel it's weight after a short while of holding it so you are best off using a good solid tripod with it. All this quality comes at a hefty price but this scope should last you an eternity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, solid build and excellent optics Excellent optics and focus system. Good detail and contrast. Color rendition is not as good as the Victory or Conquest series, however is it very good. It has a narrow field of view. I have used the Dialyt Field Spotter for hiking, birds and wildlife at the pacific coast. I've used it hand held at 18X and at higher magnifications on a monopod. On a tripod I use it for astronomy at 25 to 30 power. It works very well for viewing planets and large nebula such as the Orion Nebula.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, bright and detailed. This is the most versatile optic that I own and very easy to use while hiking or walking. It is bright, detailed and easy to focus. I can hand hold it at the lowest magnification or mount it on a monopod for higher magnification. Occasionally I use it with a fluid pan-tilt head and tripod for astronomical viewing and it performs very well. Perfect for planets, the moon or bright nebula.
