The Triad VPA-5D Kit for the Canon 7D or 5D Mk II comprises a VPA-5D camera plate with V-wedge and a VTA-5D quick-release tripod adapter, which includes integrated 8.1" 15mm rods. The VPA-5D screws to the bottom of a 5D or 7D that does not have a battery grip. Its V-wedge element couples and decouples perfectly with the kit's VTA-5D tripod adapter plate.
The VTA-5D is a high-quality base plate that has standard 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting holes to match the stud of a professional tripod, monopod, Steadicam, etc. The quick-release mechanism allows you to mount your Canon DSLR precisely and quickly. At the front of the VTA-5D is an integrated pair of 8.1" 15mm rods, which can be easily adjusted left, right, up, or down to align a matte box to your camera's lens. The rods can of course accept other professional lens accessories, including a lens support bracket or a follow focus device (such as Triad's RF-15 follow focus, which is compatible with the kit).
