    Vello BG-C6 reviews

BG-C6 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 60D is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 87.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the price I bought this Battery Grip because I always hold my camera when I go out and take photos(I'm usually out walking in some natural area). Hanging it around my neck caused too much strain. Adding this Grip to my 60d definitely has made it heavier, but it is so much easier to hold it now. And when it gets too heavy, I just switch it to my other hand. Other than that, I only have one battery, but I'm planning on getting another later on for trips. That's another reason why I bought this Grip. It was 1/2 the price of the Canon Grip and I don't think there's a noticeable difference between the two. So far I haven't found any real negatives about it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Malfunctioning contacts drained batterie Excellent looking grip. Wonderful feeling of the plastic. Loved it!!! But! One little but... The malfunctioning contacts drained the batteries within 2 days.. tried them with non-EOM batteries.. than two original Canon batteries.. same result. Returning the product. Could happen with any grip, however it means that quality control not up to par.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it! I bought my wife the Vello battery grip for her t2i. The reviews on that product was solid enough for me to purchase it for her. When I saw the Vello Battery Grip for my 60D, it didn't have any reviews because it was a new product. I decided to take a chance on it because of my wife's t2i battery grip was a good purchase. I'm happy I did. I saved about $100 over the Canon model and I have a product that works just as well. The grip design matches well with my 60D layout and the additional buttons are solid. I provide video work for missionaries, so I haven't taken the battery pack into a foreign environment (i.e., ruggedness has not be tested) but so far I'm very happy with it. It looks good. It adds stability. It doesn't feel cheap. It provides much more battery life and makes my camera feel more complete. I would recommend the Vello for the 60D (and the t2i).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well, Feels Solid I have owned both third-party and Canon battery grips in the past; this Vello one stacks up to the best of them. It's not made of plastic; there's actually a metal frame inside that the rubberized grip is built around. The buttons and control wheel feel right. I can half-press the shutter button to pre-focus without trouble. The grip also communicates well with the camera, so the 60D knows which battery is in which end of the grip, giving me precise information about battery life. My only (minor) complaint is the twist locking tab at the end of the battery tray. It feels very flimsy and I could see how it would snap off for users accustomed to older and sturdier battery grips. Just be careful with that tab and you're fine. Unlike other battery grips, this one has a slot to store the camera's battery compartment door, so you have it handy if you ever decide to remove the grip in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 2nd 60D grip - very well made This is my second 60D battery grip. The first one I bought, which was about a year ago, was a generic one About 4-5 months ago it started acting weird where the dial on the grip won't always work as it should. It still does somewhat work but when shooting engagements or portraits it's a nuisance, to say the least.Well, the Vello battery grip felt better immediately. I held the two side by side and the Vello is quite a bit heavier in a good way. Very solid and hefty. I've only used it on two shoots but it works flawlessly. I'll be using it for a wedding in a few months and if I have any problems, I'll update this review. But, at this point, I'd highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from same as canon! ok at first i was concerned since it wasn't made by canon and it cost 100 less then the canon one, but when i got it i realized it was just as good, just way cheaper, its nice to have because you can use it with 1 or 2 canon batteries, or 6AA batteries, have the option to turn it off and on so you dont hit the shutter button on it, also if you have your camera set up on a rig you dont have to undo anything because you can just slide the battery tray out. good buy and bhphotovideo is legit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far very pleased! I've only had this a couple of weeks, but I am really enjoying it so far! I like the added size (the 60D is really a bit small without the grip). So far it has functioned extremely well, feels well built, and adds the size I like on a camera! Some have commented that the batteries drain quickly even when turned off...I have experienced no such drain. The batteries are holding up extremely well without removing them when I get home. I would definitely recommend this product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Kills batteries when off! I ordered this item as it appeared to offer the same benefits of the Canon product at a much better price. However, after trying TWO of these battery grips I have had the same experience. It completely drains my camera batteries overnite even though the switch on the grip and the camera are both turned off. When my first unit arrived I installed my two camera batteries and tested the functioning of the item and all seemed to work as advertised. However, when I tried to turn on the camera the next morning I found that the batteries were completely drained and the camera would not power up. I recharged both batteries and reinstalled them in the grip making sure that the power switches were indeed off and checked againg the next morning...dead again. I contacted B&H and reqeusted an RMA and ordered a replacement item. It arrived today and I put two FULLY charged batteries in it and waited TWO hours. My camera now shows that the battery level has dropped to 85% on both batteries with the unit turned off. It's going back and I'm through with this model. If I want a battery grip for my 60D it looks like it will have to be the Canon factory grip. I really wanted this to work as I have other Vello products that have performed flawlessly, but somehow something is defective with this grip as it won't function with my camera!
