The BG-C8 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D from Vello is a battery grip designed specifically for use with the Canon EOS 6D digital SLR camera, and accepts one or two Canon LP-E6 batteries (sold separately). With two batteries installed, your shooting time is effectively doubled. Moreover, when one battery is drained, it can be removed and recharged while you continue shooting with the other battery. In addition, the BG-C8 can utilize six AA batteries, and includes a battery tray for this purpose. It can also be used with the Canon AC Adapter Kit ACK-E6, which provides for an uninterrupted power supply.

The design of a battery grip offers a comfortable and secure way in which to hold your DSLR, especially in the vertical position. The BG-C8 features an alternate shutter release button, AF start button, AF point selection/Magnify Button, AE lock/FE lock button, and main dial to facilitate shooting when held vertically. It is designed with an anti-slip rubber grip to further improve handling, a tripod socket to mount your camera directly to a tripod, a hand strap mount and a wonderful touch: a holder for the camera's battery door so as not to lose it when the battery grip is installed. The BG-C8 comes with a protective contact cap and battery trays for both AA batteries and for the LP-E6 batteries.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't get this if you are shooting video I am a wedding videographer, I bought this grip for my canon 6d. I was trying to save money so I bought the Vello grip instead of the cannon original. This grip is loose (It just doesn't fit that well with the camera), and sometimes when I am filming a wedding, the power would shut off, it kills my camera and corrupts the footage/clip that I was filming at the moment. It is very devastating, I tried to use a software to recover our footage, but it was not the same. I have now switched to the Canon Power Grip. I usually don't write reviews for products, but if you are reading this, you have been warned. Choose the Canon Grip instead of this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever! Like too many others, I looked at the price and thought how much of a difference can there be?The 6D was my first camera and I really didn't quite fully appreciate the importance of sticking with Canon only accessories. I have long lost track of how many times the entire battery tray would literally fall out of the camera grip! How embarrassing! I mostly shoot concerts and other fun activities, I've been very lucky to have not lost any batteries yet.The rubber material on the grip has long ago started delaminating and eventually will fall off too.I clearly didn't save any money on this purchase, just wasted $ on junk and the unpleasant experience of this lesion.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Feels cheap/bulky This felt a little bulky for the slim already small 6D. The base of the grip juts out and is a lot larger feeling in my hand than the Canon Battery Grip I already own for my 5Dm1. This added a TON of weight to the camera. After using it without the grip I've grown used to the lightness which is a pro in my opinion. If I wanted a ball and chain around my neck I would bust out my 5Dm1 w/grip & 70-200 IS 2.8. The grip just feels large and cheap. I would like to see how the canon grip stacks up. I'm probably going to return this and just replace the batteries as needed. I do love the way my canon battery grip feels and it makes it look and feel like a 1D.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BG-C8 Battery Grip for EOS 6D I have battery grips on a couple of cameras prior to this one and have enjoyed the added ease of use they offer. This grip in no exception. The added shutter/control buttons in the vertical hold takes strain off my wrist and the use of 2 batteries at a time, adds during some long (1500+ shots) sessions shooting boat races and such. The only negative I found with the unit that I received was an issue with the twist release latch for the compartment. The latch doesn't stay in the closed position and once the latch starts to turn, it turns off the camera. This is minor in my world, as a piece of tape easily corrects the issue. Still it is worth noting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I purchased the BG-C8 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D by Vello because I was so happy with the Vello grip for my Canon T5i, and I was not disappointed. Works perfectly, as expected. In fact, a friend of mine who actually owns the Canon BG-C8 for the 6D had to use tape to keep it from moving when attached to the camera. With the Vello, there is no need to anything like that, since it stays on the camera firmly without any wiggle room, once locked down in place. I highly recommend this product, and it will save you a lot of money. It does add weight to the camera, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No different than the Canon version. I have been using Canon DSLR cameras since the 10D, and I have continually upgraded to the latest. I always use a battery grip and for years exclusively the Canon grip. Up to several years ago I purchased the Vello grip for a 7D, Mark III and a 6D. I was hesitant at first but having the Vello for a good 3 plus years now, there is no difference. The build is the same and feels solid and secure like Canon but half the price. With this brand I see no reason to spend double for the essentially the same thing. I never buy third party equipment but this is one is an exception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As solid as name-brand I've been using my 6D without a grip for close to a year now, and decided to shell out for one when I added a 70-200 f2.8 zoom to my arsenal. It's a strain on the wrists without a grip, but is now quite manageable. I have huge hands, and appreciate having a grip even when using a smaller lens. Shooting in portrait orientation is so easy now.I haven't used a Canon grip, but I can't imagine the build quality gets much better. The Vello grip has a nonstick surface that matches the camera body, great buttons, and attaches very securely to the body. I have no qualms about carrying the camera by the grip even with the 70-200 attached.I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality for 3rd party I have to say I am impressed with the build on this 3rd party battery grip. I do a tad bit of vertical shots, portraits, and love to have the extra battery and feel of a good grip. This grip lives up to Canon levels of quality at least in my usage so far. It has that rubber feel and it's not a cheap build. I cannot see paying the full $'s for a Canon grip when I can get a quality grip like this. Yes it was part of a package and I did not have to research it. But- that makes it all the better in the sense that I got lucky and got this fine piece of hardware. I have no complaints thus far and again, it feels like a pro build with the shoot I had to do.
