The BG-C8 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D from Vello is a battery grip designed specifically for use with the Canon EOS 6D digital SLR camera, and accepts one or two Canon LP-E6 batteries (sold separately). With two batteries installed, your shooting time is effectively doubled. Moreover, when one battery is drained, it can be removed and recharged while you continue shooting with the other battery. In addition, the BG-C8 can utilize six AA batteries, and includes a battery tray for this purpose. It can also be used with the Canon AC Adapter Kit ACK-E6, which provides for an uninterrupted power supply.

The design of a battery grip offers a comfortable and secure way in which to hold your DSLR, especially in the vertical position. The BG-C8 features an alternate shutter release button, AF start button, AF point selection/Magnify Button, AE lock/FE lock button, and main dial to facilitate shooting when held vertically. It is designed with an anti-slip rubber grip to further improve handling, a tripod socket to mount your camera directly to a tripod, a hand strap mount and a wonderful touch: a holder for the camera's battery door so as not to lose it when the battery grip is installed. The BG-C8 comes with a protective contact cap and battery trays for both AA batteries and for the LP-E6 batteries.

question

Has anyone tried an Arca-Swiss style plate made for the Canon grip (Really Right Stuff or similar) on this grip? Does it fit okay?
Asked by: Anonymous
You shouldn't have any problem using any quick release plate on the Vello BG-C8 Battery Grip, since there is a standard 1/4 -20 socket on the bottom.

question

Does the Vello BG-C8 grip fit the 6d mark ii?
Asked by: F.O. D.
No it will not. It does not appear that Vello has come out with a Battery Grip for the 6D Mark II yet. The Canon BG-E21 is the only grip currently available based on my research. The Canon BG-E13 and Vello BG-C8 for the 6D has 9 pins on the mount where the Canon BG-E21 for the 6D Mark II has 8 pins.

Does It work w 3rd party (non canon) LP-E6 battery?

question

Do you need to buy a separate batterie for the grip itself?
Asked by: Jake M.
The grip itself requires no power. It fits into the battery compartment of the camera and accommodates two batteries (and it works with just one battery also). So you remove the battery from the camera along with the hinged cover (which you can store in the grip). Then insert the grip into the battery compartment and tighten it down. Then put one or two batteries in the grip.
