The Simplex Classic Cutter consist of a hinging guide rail, which holds your mat in place, and features production stops for faster repeat cutting. A parallel mat guide that slides up and down the aluminum channel determines the size of your borders in the window mat. In addition, the 32" squaring arm helps to keep your mat completely straight against the arm and guide when your're cutting a mat. Both cutting heads are compatible with the #270 blades.

Perfect cutter

I had the compact Elite cutter for 8 month and then I decided on an upgrade. The main advantages of the Simplex cutter are the mat guide/squaring arm and that the bevel cutter is pull-style and not push-style like with the Compact Elite. These two features make the work really much easier. I bought the Simplex cutter from Germany. Payment, shipping and all the custom stuff worked like a breeze. I can recommend B&H in every way. A delivery time of 4 days from NY to Southern Germany, including all the tax, custom and, paper stuff is outstanding.

Outstanding Choice

I recommend the Simplex mat cutters to beginning framers.

How well will this work for trimming prints with the straight cutter? Would be nice to use one machine for everything rather than also needing a separate rotary trimmer.
Asked by: Christopher
The included 701-1 Straight Cutter will do the job, but it's designed for thick materials - mats and foam board. For $22 extra, I'd suggest the 710-1 Paper Cutter, which is designed for paper and photographs. My 11x14 photographs cost me $16.95 a copy, so the paper cutter costs about the same as one mistake.
