Panasonic TC-P55VT30 Overview

  • 1Description

Energy Guide First and foremost, the Panasonic TC-P55VT30 55" Class VIERA VT30 1080p Plasma TV is one whopping big TV. Whenever this set is on get used to anyone else in the room drifting away from you in favor of the action on-screen. That being said, this is a TV that enhances your environment by simply being a beautiful object. It's when you fire it up, however, that it becomes obvious that the TC-P55VT30 is at the frontier of a flat panel breakthrough which turns traditional passive viewing into a completely interactive experience with a radically immersive element: 3D.

Panasonic uses Full HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through optional active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking Full HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism.

The 100,000 hour 1080p panel is capable of displaying 6,144 shades of gradation, the benefit of which is most obvious in pure rich blacks. Vivid is the key word in the TC-P55VT30 design. The 600Hz Subfield drive ensures that each individual pixel remains lit for the minimum time possible to reduce after effects. This is especially important in sports and action sequences. And speaking of action, Game Mode tweaks the TC-P55VT30's settings, prioritizing fast response and super-sharp detail to meet the demands of the lightening-fast gaming world.

The TC-P55VT30's extensive connectivity has got your digital options covered with four HDMI connections, so you can switch from Xbox to PlayStation to TV as fast as you want to. Or you use the SD card slot or one of the three USB ports to enjoy music, videos and JPEG slide shows. If that's still not enough, the LAN port is your gateway to a world of online entertainment. Just press the VIERA Tools button on your remote. But that's not all your remote can do. Instead of juggling several remotes while you miss the kickoff, control all of your HDMI connected devices with just the VIERA remote. Setup is a snap. You can even go wireless with the included Wi-Fi adapter.

Finally, Panasonic has demonstrated its environmental commitment by eliminating lead and mercury from its panels while Energy Star compliance ensures that your TV will save you money while it helps preserve the environment.

Full-HD Frame Sequential Technology
Panasonic uses Full-HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking Full HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism
600Hz Sub-Field Drive
600Hz technology lets you view superb Full-HD motion and still images with 1080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects
Full-Time 1080 Moving Picture Resolution
VIERA plasma TVs have 1080 lines of moving-picture resolution. Newly developed phosphors with minimal afterimages and a new motion compensating technology have made it possible to render faster-moving images with greater sharpness. This far surpasses the APDC moving-picture resolution measurement standard of 5 seconds by providing a moving-picture resolution of 1080 lines at the 1.5-second level. And it shows the inherently clear motion of VIERA TVs in both 2D and 3D images
Deeper Blacks Even in Bright Rooms
In new VIERA models, contrast in brightly lit locations has been significantly improved. Enhancements to the panel and cells help reproduce images with smooth, natural gradation and deep, rich blacks even when viewed in bright surroundings. In movies, the true, deep blacks faithfully convey the intent of the filmmakers, adding power and realism to the viewing experience
3D 24p Cinema Smoother
VIERA incorporates technology that analyzes picture information in both the preceding and succeeding frames, and creates a precise supplementary frame between them. This suppresses the jerky effect seen in movies, so playback is smooth and natural-looking. The distinctive tonal qualities and atmosphere of the movie are preserved, and you enjoy extremely lifelike 3D images
VIERA Connect
The exciting world of IPTV, centering on TV, is about to begin for the enjoyment of the entire family. Now you can enjoy intuitive remote control while relaxing on the living room sofa, with a wide variety of content at your fingertips. In the near future, TV will also be able to link with a tablet device to achieve completely new forms of entertainment that you've never before experienced
3D Image Viewer
It's easy to view 3D photos and movies you shot yourself on the big VIERA screen. After shooting with your 3D-compatible camera or camcorder, simply insert the SD card into the slot on a 3D-compatible VIERA TV. The viewing is incredible, with images so realistic it feels as though you're right back in the moment. You'll find that life's special moments are even more memorable when you preserve them in 3D
Game Mode
Games are much more fun when there's no lag in operation. VIERA automatically chooses settings that provide the optimal image, so you get super-fast response and no delays. Even dark scenes with delicately rendered details are beautiful and easy to see
VIERA Link interlinks the operation of a variety of AV devices, so you can operate them all using only the VIERA remote control. Setup is easy simply connect the compatible devices to each other via HDMI cables
Long Panel Life, Up to 100,000 Hours
One important way consumers can protect the environment is by choosing high-quality products and taking care of them so they last for a long time. A high-quality VIERA HDTV can help. Thanks to a newly designed phosphor process and rear panel process, our plasma panels last for up to 100,000 hours before the brightness decreases by half. That's more than 30 years of viewing 8 hours a day
Mercury and Lead Free Plasma Display Panel
Panasonic is committed to making our products friendlier to the environment. In line with this commitment, all VIERA plasma display panels are free of both lead and mercury. This reduces impact on the environment years down the road when the TV is recycled or retired from use

    Panasonic TC-P55VT30 Reviews

    TCP55VT30 55" Class VIERA VT30 1080p Plasma TV is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome color If you want a top of the line plasma TV, this one is fantastic. The color is true and the image is sharp. The wireless Internet connection works great with a high speed network in the house. Excellent tuner for over the air broadcasts. I have not tried the 3D glasses yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than my old Pioneer, with caveats Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, but must note that while the picture quality is superior to my old Pioneer PDP-5070HD plasma (not a Kuro, mind you), the TV itself is rougher around the edges. Pros: * Excellent picture quality -- definitely an improvement over my 720p Pioneer display. The THX setting is almost spot-on, but with the help of an S&M calibration disc, things got even better after turning down the contrast a bit. * Intuitive UI, and extensive picture controls if you need them (you probably don't!) Cons: * Stupid Viera Connect banner ad that you must disable under Device > Advanced Settings. * The remote is kind of a joke. It looks like each marketing team wanted their own button, so you've ended up with a mish-mash of typefaces and features a movie enthusiast wouldn't care about. I miss my Pioneer's brushed metal remote. * Limited analog outputs. No RCA outs without cruddy 1/8 adapter! * No handles on the back -- a consequence of panels getting so thin! You definitely want an extra set of hands to maneuver this display around. * Captive power cord! Really? I understand that most people won't need to replace a power cord, but you don't even have the option with this display.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best HDTV with 3D on the maket! From 3D to standard tv, this HDTV blows away the competitve brands in every way to be veiwed. Gaming also is delivered better than I have ever seen. Action videos have a sense of delivery that is unique in the ability to see details without smudging. Being a plasma tv the viewing angle is awesome even in 3D. DLNA is also a plus, I use it from my ThunderBolt to easily share photos I just took.
