    Peavey USB-P reviews

USB-P - USB "Direct Box" for Outputting Computer Audio to PA System is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very simple, and perfect for what I need I needed an audio interface to connect my iMac with my Yamaha HS5 monitors. I don't record into my computer and primarily needed a good audio set up to edit video. I also didn't want to pay for an audio interface that offered unnecessary features, just wanted something to wire my iMac audio out to monitors. After digging around I found the Peavy USB-P, and it's exactly what I needed. It connects to my iMac vis USB and then sends the audio signal out to my Yamaha HS5's via XLR cables. It sounds great! No hum or buzz. My only wish is that the USB connector and the XLR outputs were on the same side of the device, so I didn't have cables coming out of both side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Easy to use. I bought this little devise to link my iMac to my Event 20/20 monitors. It works exactly as advertised. Plugged it in to the USB on my Mac & plugged the XLRs from the monitors into the back. The Mac recognized the device, no problem and I was up & running in about 2 minutes. The only thing I would say is that when the computer sleeps, restarts or shuts down, there is a pretty loud pop through the speakers as it reconnects. It makes sense, so it's not surprising, but it did startle me the first time. Just be aware that it can happen, and it's no big deal. I really like this product and it's exactly what I was looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect, simple way to drive monitors I wanted a solution to drive powered monitors from our iMac, that both avoided the noisy unbalanced line out, and didn't require being tethered to my FireWire audio interface. I also didn't want another device with inputs (likely inferior to my rack-mount firewire interface.) This Peavey USB-P box is perfect. As you'd expect being balanced, noise isn't an issue. It's built like a little tank. No driver installation was required on OS X. It does exactly what it claims to perfectly, with no useless frills. The only thing to be aware of: no USB cable is included. This is pretty normal, but it might catch some folks off guard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So simple, yet so valuable! This unit works flawlessly to provide clean, high quality audio out of my laptop. While many are using this device in a DJ situation, my application is to output the audio from Software Synths (specifically Native Instruments KOMPLETE). There is one tiny step that I had to figure out (need to change the output in the ASIO driver control). Once I figured that out, I was good to go and this device is doing exactly what I need it to do. Now I can take the laptop anywhere and utilize it to send the softsynth audio into a mixing console, and even in stereo. This is a perfect example of a product doing one job, and doing it VERY well. Highly recommended for anyone that needs to get clean, high quality audio out of their laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DJ Solutions The Peavey USB-P is out-of-the-box plug-n-play. Simply plug-in your laptop (or other device) using the USB port, attach a couple mic cables to the USB-P and your mixer, and you're ready to party!!For out-putting sound from a computer, or other digital device, to your mixer this little unit out-performs more expensive devices without the hassle of needing some sort of power cord. Your computer powers the thing through the USB. Convenient. The only con that can be stated about the Peavey USB-P, is that it is a one-way device. You cannot use this device to record live sound. But, I already have a device for that, so...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple box that sounds great and does what it's supposed to I was looking for something to connect to the balanced inputs on my studio monitors that didn't also create a ground loop hum (like the unbalanced output from my sound card does). This unit is exactly what I was looking for; USB powered, balanced outputs, simple, works in windows/linux/mac and sounds great. The only negative thing is that there is a very small audible pop passed to the speakers when the computer is powering up or shutting down. It's not excessive however it's definitely there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What I Needed I didn't know this existed until I needed to figure out how to use Logic Mainstage with a MIDI controller in live performance. I didn't want to schlep my Audio/Digital recording interface, nor to rely on my MacBook's headphone jack. This does exactly what I need without any added bells & whistles: I can choose it as an audio output device on the Mac, it has a switch to choose stereo or mono output to the two XLR jacks. This allows me to send the synth audio output to both a PA and to my keyboard player's amp (using an XLR F to TS M cable). It is powered by the computer's USB outlet so no need for batteries or AC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little External Sound Card I use this product to connect my home computer to some powered studio monitors that only accept either XLR or TRS connections. I previously had an M-Audio Fast Track Pro - 4 x 4 Mobile USB box that somehow allowed lots of noise onto the line even though I was using balanced TRS cables. Since I couldn't switch to XLR with the previous card I decided to go with this box (which is 1/3 of the price of the M-Audio) and have so far had spectacular results. The sound quality is nice and clear now, with no random noise on the line from nearby electronics or other RF interference. I should say that I only listen to music currently, I'm not doing any kind of recording or mixing. I just want nice clean sound from a great set of speakers and this gets me exactly what I need at a great price point. While this box doesn't allow lots of inputs or anything other than XLR out, it does what it is supposed to very well. I'm very happy with my purchase and have since returned by old sound card which preformed so poorly.
