The Sky-Watcher Pro 120ED APO Telescope with Celestron CGEM Equatorial Mount, offers up to 240x magnification and is suitable for lunar, planetary and deep space observation. It features a 4.72" (120mm) aperture, 900mm focal length and f/7.5 focal ratio. The Pro 120ED uses optics that are made with a Schott glass positive front Crown element and a second lens element made of fluorite. It uses a FPL-53 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens, that helps greatly reduce spherical and chromatic aberration. All lenses in the Sky-Watcher Pro 120ED are uniformly air-spaced in their cell housings.
With the MHC (Metallic High-Transmission Coating) anti-reflection multicoating, the air-to-glass surface in the Sky-Watcher PRO 120ED helps provide well-corrected, high-contrast images with virtually no false color. The light baffles in the objective lens help reject stray and unfocused light, and the baffles in the draw tube help provide optimum contrast. The flat blackened tube interior prevents unfocused internal light reflections from reaching the focal plane.
The 2" (5.08 cm) Crayford focuser features dual speed focusing, has 2 fine focusing adjustments and offers a smooth and backlash-free operation with enhanced optical focus. Made of aluminum, the optical tube is black powder-coated and has a reflective gloss with gold fleck accent. The front and back cells are made from cast-aluminum, and are painted either white or black. Included with the telescope are a right-angle 9x50mm viewfinder with bracket; a 2" (5.08 cm) dielectric diagonal; two 1.25" (3.17 cm) LE (Long Eye Relief) eyepieces (LE20mm and LE5mm); a 1.25" (3.17 cm) focuser adaptor; tube ring attachment hardware for mounting to the Sky-Watcher EQ5PRO Mount (or other compatible mount) and a foam lined aluminum carry/storage case.
Capable of securely holding Celestron’s higher-end SCT optical tubes (up to 11" / 27.94 cm) and featuring a database containing over 40,000 objects, 400 user-defined programmable objects and enhanced information on over 200 objects, the Celestron CGEM Equatorial Mount is suitable for imaging and visual observation purposes. The database lists several deep-sky objects by name and catalog number. It features NexStar computer control technology and large Altitude and Azimuth adjustment knobs that enable quick and easy adjustment. RA and DEC motor wiring simplifies setup. The All-Star polar alignment procedure allows you to select any bright star, for which the software will calculate and assist with polar alignment. In Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PEC), the mount retains the PEC recordings, while allowing you to train out the worm gears periodic errors.
With the provided software you can adjust mount calibration, database filter limits, hibernate, five alignment procedures, and slew limits. The Celestron CGEM mount tracks objects well past the Meridian for continuous imaging. You can receive updates over the Internet via the flash upgradeable hand control software and motor control units.
