question

What converter would I need if I am using a Edirol V-4 switcher?
Asked by: Anonymous
HelloWe are using our unit for HD recordings as this was the intentions for the unit. It does say that it accepts 480i recording in the pro res formats, but you will need to be able to convert your S-Video or composite output AND the audio (if needed) into a box that can output an HDMI to your Atmos. Editrol V-4 was made around 2008 or 2009, so it is only and SD switcher. If you can get the proper conversion gear, making pro res files for SD is the ultimate in SD quality and them by doing so, it will make a decent up conversion to HD once captured. The Atmos itself does NOT upconvert SD to HD, as you would take the pro-res SD footage in the recordings made into the Atmos and upconvert in post. The higher the sampling quality you go with pro res, the better the results are to upconvert SD to HD. The editing software you use also has a lot to do with what you are able to accomplish as well. Hope this helps.

question

Is the audio quality as good as dedicated sound recorders? Are 48 and 96 kHz options?
Asked by: Jim
I prefer to use a dedicated sound recorder. Sound from Ninja is no bad, but is not enough for some productions.

question

Does the recorder bypass the internal card or can I record to both? I want to use the Ninja as backup.
Asked by: Jim
Hello Jim L, it can do both, as the main recorder or dual recording. just note if you do use dual recording on a DSLR with the 30 Mins limitation you are still limited. to bypass that, record on the Atomos unit only.

question

Does it come with batteries?
Asked by: Patrick
Yes comes with a single battery. It has slots for two, so will be good to have an extra one as they are hot swappable.
