This lightweight, translucent Lastolite Trifold Umbrella is ideal for small flash units in either bounce or shoot-through mode. Unlike standard umbrellas, the triple folding design allows it to collapse in upon itself, making it unusually compact. It comes with a carrying case. This umbrella is rated at 50W maximum for light sources. It is recommended only for small flash.

    Lastolite LL LU2127 reviews

Trifold Umbrella (35.4") is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from For indoors, its great- otherwise... I am a professional and purchased this for a recent assignment that took me from Denver to Tampa to photograph three executives outdoors. I needed a quick set-up and a specific umbrella size- this one fits that to a T. However, one thing I quickly discovered is that there are some drawbacks: 1- The black outer covering is NOT removable. It is attached at the pole-end and although you can in theory use it as a shoot-thru, the black will always be dangling somewhere in the way. I guess you could cut it off if your intention was to always use it as a shoot through. There is no silver on the inside of the black, so this is used just to prevent light spill. 2- Once collapsed to its smallest size, the outer black comes off of the ribs ends in many places. Its just the way its designed and is a side affect of the extra joints required to make this collapse so small. It makes setting it up a prolonged experience because you'll have to re-attach all the ends before you can attach it to anything. Definitely frustrating. 3- If wind blows INTO the umbrella, it easily reverse-collapses (i.e. goes from concave to convex in shape) so if you are photographing in any wind or gusts greater than 15mph- be aware of this. I have never used an umbrella of ANY size that did this so easily. Mine did this near the end of my session and it fell and broke one of the rod connectors... Hoewever, if you are working in controlled environments the size of this cannot be beat for travel. I just wish Lastolite would add a bit more 'last' to this lighting modifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can carry it in a pocket! Just what I needed! Trifold umbrella that once is closed you can carry it in a pocket! I do carry that in my hip-bag (Porta Brace hip-3) which I also bought at B&H and the umbrella fits perfectly in the top pocket. I do shoot weddings and I like this umbrella that quickly folds away into a small space, so that I don't have to carry big bags! The quality of the umbrella is excellent! It will last long time if you will take care of it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless I know its not an expensive umbrella. I used it for one shoot, and just opening and closing it to move through doorways multiple times and it broke. The rivets that hold the ribs connected to each other seemed to just fall out, and I was left with bad rib damage, meaning I had to (embarrassingly) manually reposition ribs during a shoot.I wouldnt buy this again. Its a shame, the compact nature of it had so much potential.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On location portrait umbrella Good for street portraiture or on location portraiture. It is small when it is folded but big when it's open. It is a bit bigger than I expected when it is open but you know: The bigger the light source the softer the light... So I'm happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the tri-fold I use this for portrait on-site flash photography. This is very compact and easy to set up. Perfect for it's intended use. The small overall size limit the light spread, but is outstanding if you know that the 35.4 is what you are looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra compact and quick to setup This product is so compact and quick to setup that its amazing. I own other modifiers such as the cheetah qbox and the four square softbox. If you need something small and time is of essence, this is probably the best product on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have! Small, fits in camera bag... Two speedlite, two umbrella, camera and lens all fits in one camera bag. You'll always be ready for any situation. Just grab two human light stands when you need it.
