Rated 4 out of 5 by from Typical beauty dish look With the opal diffusion glass, the Mola gives you the typical beauty dish look. There is no longer a hot spot in the center of the frame. I have removed the diffusion sock since I replaced the old PAD with this opal diffusion glass as the light becomes softer after being reflected off the opal glass. The reason for four stars is because I think Mola should have included the opal glass with the beauty dish in the first place considering the high price of the Mola.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looking for versatility in lighting? It is not a must have accessory. However, it gives you a lighting option for how stronger hot spot do you want. It might be more than optional if your strobe does not have a frosted glass. If it does (like Profoto or PCB Einstein) and if you diminish or your hot spot disappear (like it does with a conventional beauty dish) keep it in the front of the deflector. The beuty of Mola is that it gives you options in terms of lighting. And, the opal glass is one of them. Another positive attribute is that it does this without changing the colour temperature.I did not test if it is breakable easily. I hope not : )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Icing on the cake I actually like the results produced by the Mola Demi with the stock P.A.D. in place. However, I view the opal diffusion glass as the icing on the cake. The cake's great on its own, but the icing tops it off quite nicely. The diffusion glass reduces the hot spot in the center and creates a more even core of light. It's kind of a pain to install (as you have to disassemble the complete P.A.D., but once it's on, you'll probably never want to take it off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard to get, but worth the wait! I wanted this disk for use with my Mola Demi. I couldn't be happier. Having the disk attached smooths out the center spot and enhances Mola's already stellar light quality. I just wish they weren't so hard to get!(4 stars) I should have ordered two. One for now and one for when I get my next Mola, so I'm not waiting forever. One other thing. THESE ARE GLASS! If you travel with your Mola's, I would highly recommend a good case. I also attach my grid to the front of my Demi to protect the diffusion disk. Mola recommends removing the disk when traveling, but it's kind of a pain putting it back on. Besides, regular removal only heightens the chance you'll break it when reattaching it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for any Mola I have a Mola Demi silver and Mola Euro with Profoto D1 and B1. Let me tell you a couple of things: 1- The glass is tempered glass not regular glass so It can withstand the higher temps of modeling lamps + high power flash firing. hence its high cost, I think it could be little cheaper but making it yourself in a glass shop costs almost half without the needed hooks. 2- I bought the opal glass for the Mola Demi and when comparing the both dishes, Demi with glass and Euro without, the light hot spot of the Euro its really a problem without the Opal, if you don't have the frosted dome for the D1 then you have a big useless reflector worth almost 900usd! So its like having a Ferrari without gas. If you on the other hand have the frosted dome worth $160+ then you probably don't need this as much, and if you dont have the dome but have this opal stacked with the metal pad then the Mola will act as a true BD and not just a reflector, so even if you don't have a dome yet it will still work as a BD. Soo many ppl, say bad things when they try Mola for the first time because they try it without a head with frosted dome and or opal glass so the light will not bounce around inside the Mola surface and leave the dish but rather go straight out like a big Zoom reflector. 3- If you want to feather the light, you need to place it as close as the light dome as possible without overheating the head, the head dome or flash tube must NOT be visible or you will get a harsh light instead of a feathered light, the min distance is like a thumb width, if you place it too close it will overheat the lamp and the glass big problem and it will ding a bell when fired. 4- If you don't have this and you don't have the frosted dome, then you need to use the white sock and feather the light, cause without one of these two accessories, its an expensive reflector. Bottom line: its a MUST otherwise buy the frosted dome x2 more expensive or you will have a really expensive round soft box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for any Mola The addition of this opal glass made my Demi perfectly smooth, no more hot spot in the center from the OEM supplied perforated aluminum disc. It's not cheap, but it's real glass and worth every penny.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should come standard Read the Mola blog about this must-have accessory, especially for installation details. It's not obvious you have to bend the clips yourself to make it grip properly. My Demi did not have the extra segments to space the aluminum disc further from this opal diffuser, but it works just fine in the closer configuration. This really should be a standard accessory, but unfortunately must be purchased separately.
