The 536 Carbon Fiber Tripod with 509HD Video Head and Padded Carry Bag offers a complete tripod solution for professional video camera systems weighing up to 29 lb (13.1 kg). A 4-step counterbalance mechanism of the 509HD head ensures optimum balance and allows the videographer to get the camera in position quickly. The tripod head features ergonomic adjustments, easy-link connectors and uses light-weight PVC free materials in its components. Featuring the Bridging Technology with a ball bearing drag system, the tripod head offers professional quality stability as well as precise, smooth movements.

A unique Advance Balancing Recorder feature can record the perfect balanced position for your camera equipment so that the position can be recalled later on. This electronic ABR feature reduces the time needed for setting up and balancing your camera system on the tripod head.

    Manfrotto 509HD reviews

536 Carbon Fiber Tripod with 509HD Video Head and Padded Carry Bag is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent but heavy I bought this for video with my 5d and although the moves are nice and smooth and the legs work great, the head is very heavy and more than I needed on fast moving docos and corporate videos but great for dramatic work. Of course, that's not Manfrotto's fault. What I love also is that the plate works with my small 501 head on my monopod and vice versa. One issue is that the tightening screw levers hit the camera so I need to slide it far forward or far backwards. Again, not Manfrotto's fault but it would be great if someone came up with a solution for this problem when shooting DSLR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Value Very solid for it's weight and price. Used for lightweight video cameras - Panasonic HPZ250 and Canon 5d III w/ 70-200 2.8 + cage w/ sound gear and monitor. I also pair it with a Kesslar Crane 3' cineslider - care has to be taken to avoid vibration but it was still usable; granted it's a lot to ask of sticks at this price point. As far as video units go it's inexpensive but - imo - exceeded expectations in the price catagory. Not sure how useful the electronics are but then I tend to think of such things as a nuisance. I appreciate the case which would have otherwise been a hidden cost to aquire.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommended by Vincent Laforet Bought this tripod upon recommendation from Vincent Laforet, and it's everything I need from a pair of sticks. The carbon fiber legs are strong but lightweight, easily supporting the 509HD head (which is much larger than my 504). I use this tripod with my C100 rig (camera, Atomos Ninja 2 recorder, Zacuto Z-Finder Pro) and it balances everything extremely well. The tilt adjustment knobs are on the left side, so I never have to let go of the arm during filming to tighten/loosen them (I've had that issue with other Manfrotto heads). Overall a very durable, smooth tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holds up the URSA Great Tripod!! Bought for the BlackMagic URSA and couldn't be happier. Also used for other cameras and it's supper smooth and easy to use and transport. Highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Robust tripod, butter smooth fluid head. I bought this set mostly for digital filmmaking. It handles up to 29lbs camera with no problem. A fully rigged RED ONE and 5D2 with cine rig have been tested out, it worked like a charm. Due to the non-spreader design, it would take a lot space when you need to reach a high angle, always sandbag it when you put it on a doorway dolly. I would say it's as good as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of gear This combo is just great for most film usage. By extending to over 2 metres (about 7 feet) but still allowing for near ground usage with the ability to lock its feet in three different positions, this is truly a versatile rig. The 509HD head is also great with backlighted level indicator its really easy to set it up straight, no matter how the ground is. The only con I can point to so far must be the weight, not the heaviest but still its 15 pounds more to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a beasty set up I love it This is one of the most heavy duty pieces of equipment I own, next to the Nikon D4s in which I bought it for. I own 3-4 Tripods and none would hold the size camera safely but rest assured this one will. It was much heavier than I thought it would be but It is smooth and I love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost loveable The legs are impressively light and strong. I doubt there's anything better for the money. The 509 head, however is a bit unusual, mostly because the counterbalance is not continuous (like Vinten). Everything else about it is great, the pan and tilt are as good as you need for most productions. The best thing about the 509 is really the cost/weight ratio, and the opportunity it presents to standardize all of your gear to manfrotto plates. Worth noting is that with in the bundle the 75mm bowl adapter plate (which comes with the sticks alone) is not included. Makes sense as the 509 is a 100 mm bowl, but a bit annoying if you had planned to occasionally pair the sticks with a lighter head. Manfrotto lets you order the part separately.
