You can mount the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM to a C mount camera with this adapter. I caution that you tripod mount the lens so as not to strain the C mount.

Yes. I've used the Bower Canon EOS lens to C-mount camera adapter to attach 200 mm, 85 mm and 50 mm Canon EF lenses to C- and CS-mount video cameras. Works fine. Solid fit every time. This combination turns a small-chip camera (1/3 inch sensor format) into a video-recording telescope with an apparent focal length about 7 times larger than the actual lens focal length!

If I use this with a tape measure to measure my focus, will the distance be correct for the sensor, or will distance be a little different?

It may be slightly different, and some of the C-mount CAMERAS have the ability to move the sensor chip location in and out a bit relative to the mounting ring / camera body. Depends on what model of course. For my WATEC-401 model low-light level camera (used for astronomical purposes) the adapter proved to be VERY close in focus, with only a slight adjustment needed, but it worked very well. A good adapter overall in my opinion.

How much extension does the adapter add to the rear of the lens?

If you mean the distance between the lens mounting flange face and the base of the threaded C mount, it measures approximately 26.7mm.I mounted a web cam (NexImage 5) on mine and had to add a 6mm C mount threaded extension ring to achieve proper focus with Canon lenses.The flange focal distance for Canon lenses is 44mm.I suspect the NexImage 5 is actually a CS Mount which has a 5mm shorter back focal distance than a C mount although the thread sizes are the same.Hope that helps.

What effect does this adapter have upon the image size on the sensor?

This adapter mechanically connects a Canon EOS mount lens to a C-mount camera and it properly spaces the lens from the sensor. It has no optics so it doesn't change the focal length of the camera lens. The magnification of a lens determined by the focal length -- regardless of whether the lens is a Canon EOS or C-mount type. Longer lenses (eg, 100mm, 200mm, etc.) will have larger images than shorter lenses (28mm, 35mm,etc.). Whether a photo target (like a deer) fits onto the sensor depends solely on the size of the sensor and the focal length of the lens. This adapter just connects the lens to the camera at the proper lens spacing. (And it does that very well.)
