The Manfrotto 509PLONG Quick Release Plate for 509HD Head is an extra-long 5.5" plate for video cameras. It's compatible with the 509HD head, as well as other newer Manfrotto video heads. The plate includes a 1/4"-20 screw and a 3/8"-16 adapter for compatibility with virtually all video cameras. The 509PLONG plate works with Manfrotto's Advanced Balancing Recorder (ABR) system.

This plate was included with my Fluid Head Purchase. The Head itself is ok, but the plate is a cheap piece of garbage. It only has one screw. Another 5 cent part (screw) would have made a big difference. The screw on my plate fractured causing my camera and lens to hit the ground. $1200 repair bill. I am 100% done with Manfrotto.
Manfrotto no longer makes quick release plates with 3/8” screws. All of their plates use 1/4” screws and if you want 3/8”, you screw a small adapter piece onto be 1/4” screw. What a worthless piece of junk.
