The Red Giant B&H Video Production Software Bundle consists of Magic Bullet QuickLooks, Magic Bullet Grinder (Mac only), Magic Bullet PhotoLooks, and Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop.
The Magic Bullet QuickLooks suite offers 100+ look presets to give looks such as urban grunge, a desert sunrise, or the film stocks used in classic movies to your footages. Featuring Look Theater, it allows you to sift through the library using your own images. The DeepColor RT engine efficiently utilizes the graphics processing power of the system, and allows you to play back SD and HD (720p) projects in real-time.
In addition to HDR support and a linear-light processing engine, the Magic Bullet QuickLooks plug-in suite can also handle SD, HD, 2K, and 4K images on standard hardware, or up to 8K x 8K pixels with the Nvidia GPUs. It can be used with host applications such as After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Avid, and Sony Vegas.
The Magic Bullet Grinder suite allows you to convert H264-encoded video from DSLRs/HDSLRs to edit-friendly formats such as ProRes Standard, ProRes Proxy and PhotoJPEG formats. In a single, time-saving pass you can also add timecode data to any .mov file, including original Canon format files, and generate Web-resolution proxies. For editing on laptops, you can create lower-resolution proxies, and then swap in full resolutions versions for final mastering.
In addition to batch processing features, the Magic Bullet Grinder suite supports multithreading, and enables you to simultaneously transcode as many files as there are cores. For high-quality slow-motion effects, it can conform files to a single frame rate for converting 30p and 60p media to 24p. Supporting offline formats, the suite can handle ProRes LT and PhotoJPEG format in 1080p to quarter resolution. It makes tracking offline files easy by adding file name burn-in to proxies, and also incorporates timecode/frame number burn-in.
The Magic Bullet Photo Looks suite can be used with Photoshop, Lightroom or Aperture, or as a standalone application, and allows you to control lighting conditions and create stylized effects. In addition to 36 distinct Look Tools, it offers effects like shutter streak or bleach bypass. Quick Drawers allow you to access tools and preset without affecting the memory space. It features a linear-light processing engine, which uses your graphic card to offer fluid interaction.
Equipped with an optical processing engine, the Magic Bullet Photo Looks suite offers instant visual feedback and more realistic effects by determining light values in the same way that real light and lenses behave. Looks created by you can be easily shared or sent to clients for approval as it incorporates portable presets.
In addition to HDR processing and 32-bit support, the Magic Bullet Photo Looks suite allows you to view or print HDR images by compressing the bright values using sophisticated tone mapping. The suite also features a Look Theater, and can provide real-time playback with many Looks using GPU acceleration. You can instantly manipulate a tools control as it features a hands-on mode allowing you to use a trackball or trackpad.
The Knoll Light Factory for PhotoShop has been developed by John Knoll, the Star Wars effects guru and co-developer of Photoshop, and imitates the reflections from bright light source as seen via a camera's lens. Featuring more than 100 light presets, you can select options such as photon torpedoes, red lasers, warm sun flares, or spikeballs. It allows you to create custom light effects using 19 basic light elements such as Glow Ball, Spike Ball, Chroma Hoop, Ellipse, or Sparkle.
Better-looking output and reduced banding is enabled by 16-bit rendering, and Knoll Light Factory also offers instant feedback via real-time preview support. Featuring effects based on real-world physics, it allows you apply effects such as a characteristic look of inexpensive digital cameras or legendary Panavision lenses to your pictures. The suite also comes with sci-fi effects such as Arc Welder, or Distant Quantum, and allows you to add subtle sparkle to jewelry, movie posters, or nighttime scenes.
Equipped with a redesigned user interface, Knoll Light Factory allows you to access editing functions in a single window. In addition to obscuration and tint layers, it also has a randomize button and slider, which allows you to discover new Photoshop lighting effects. The suite also allows multi-level undo. It is for use with Photoshop CS5, Photoshop CS4 64-bit, Intel Macs, and Vista 32- and 64-bit systems.
