I rarely purchase anything that I could ever rate below 3, but Canon's engineering on the Lens Hood and Cap for the EF 8-15 are some of what I hope are their poorest work ever. I have been a Canon owner for over 40 years and this is just a ____ poor design effort on their part. Check other reviews on this. I was out in NM on a photo expedition when the cap and hood came off (as they easily do). I retraced my steps but gave up after only one rattlesnake, with my already fuming exasperation as I knew of the high replacement cost. I didn't realize that you couldn't buy the hood and cap together NO separately they are $55. and $20 each- crazy for the poor design and flimsy plastic. I also bought a $2. cap keeper so at least on might hang on to the cap. I heard and thought I could glue on the hood, but with full frame it has to be removed for the wide settings and you will loose it.
