The 82mm Carl ZEISS T* Circular Polarizer Filter from ZEISS helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. A polarizer is able to absorb much of this polarized light and, in turn, increase the saturation of skies and foliage, cut through distant haze, and minimize reflections in glass and on water.

A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it integrates a quarter wave plane within a linear polarizing filter. The addition of this helps to circularly polarize reflected light, which enables your camera's autofocus and auto-exposure mechanisms to function properly.

The T* anti-reflective coating helps to reduce reflections on the filter's surface and promote a better light transmission for high quality imagery. The filter ring is designed with a slim profile to allow its use on wide angle lenses, but front filter threads are still available for the use of additional filters.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.
Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.
T* anti-reflective helps to reduce surface reflections in order to produce greater light transmission for a higher quality image.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zeiss Quality I purchased this filter primarily for use with a Zeiss 21mm lens. The build quality of the filter seems to be right on par with the Zeiss lenses. Very well made. The filter threads on the lens well and has a good feel when rotating. There are threads on the outside face of the filter so you can thread additional filters or the Zeiss lens cap will fit. You can also use the lens hood with this filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive - But Worth It Why spend a ton of money on a great camera, and quality glass to expose that beautiful chip when the first line that light crosses isn't the same quality? Clean, sharp, crisp, and low profile - this is an outstanding polarizer. Don't cheapen the rest of your investment by using anything less.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The day will come . . . The day will come when every photographer at one time or another will need to use a Polarizing filter. It's thin and does not vignette and it's made by Zeiss and it's moderately priced too. What more do I need to say ?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zeiss on Zeiss I use the 82 mm Zeiss T* Circular Polarizer on my Zeiss 21mm 2.8 Distagon lens, for landscapes/seascapes. I purchased the Zeiss polarizer for the same reason I purchased the Zeiss lens - top notch performance and quality. Why compromise the lens performance with a lesser polarizer? The polarizer is exactly what you would expect from Zeiss, absolutely superb!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Quality Filter Yes, this is an expensive filter. However, it's use on my new SP Tamron 24-70 seems justified. Also, the fairly narrow ring of this filter allows it to be used at 24mm and f2.8 with no additional vignetting (on this lens, and at this aperture and focal length, there is a little vignetting with no filter) and with the Tamron's standard lens hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Compliment to 18mm Zeiss lens I mostly do outdoor photography and have been pleased with the results using this filter. I bought my lens and filter together so I don't have enough experience to draw an athoritative conclusion, but I do know that it is allowing me to get some intense blue skies in bright sunlit conditions and does an excellent job of eliminating glare on water. I would definitely recommend this to anyone considering this product.
