Simplis Solo DSLR Support Rig is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Run and Gun Kit for DSLR Already being a fan of Cinevate products, this small but versatile unit is perfect for the run-and-gun shooter and even better when used in conjunction with a Manfrotto 561BHDV monopod. The shoulder stock provides excellent stability and an additional point-of-contact whilst mounted on the pod. The ability to have interchangeable shoulder stock arm lengths is useful too. I use this in the field whenever a free floating camera shot is needed. It's also half the cost of other run-and-gun rigs while providing the same result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very solid, very customizable, A+ very solid, very customizable. absolutely amazing! i usually give very critical reviews but this just blew me away. i bought this unit to replace an honorable but very flimsy plastic piece that i think was half the price or less, i'm extremely happy with it. PROS 1) not a single part of it is flimsy - very solid metal, but very light 2) you can tweak and customize all the sections of it in any which way you can imagine because of the ball joints, its unbelievable! on top of that you can remove the rods and place them in either the center, the left, or the right side of the centerpiece, ON BOTH SIDES OF IT!, both the handgrip and the shoulder butt ! meaning you can customize the balance of how you hold it. that with the ball joints are HUGE!!! since you can have your wrist and your arm in the positions that are most comfortable & strong for you, its impossible to be uncomfortable, you can control and balance the weight of your arm mixed to the camera very well. 3) it's very small and non-intrusive I've used it in small clubs and tight spaces. when moving through crowds you can just hold it on your chest like a soldier holds an M16, on the chest pointing towards the ground. especially PERFECT for run and gun shooting since it's compact and small. also you can break it down since its built in sections, and pack it very very compactly. you can hold it with one hand - but for better movements and steadiness you have to, obviously, use your other hand to hold the side of the camera. i use a Canon 5D Mark3 and Sony A99 at the moment. i couldn't be more thrilled - the more i used it the more comfortable it got as i found the proper adjustments to be perfectly balanced with my weight, strength, and with proper wrist and hand position - basically it doesn't force you to hold it in a single, stiff way. it comes with a few different lengths rods too! you can build on it with all Cinevate Products, for example add a second hand grip or upgrade to the full beast. maybe I will one day. things to note, that I found at first inconvenient but then realized that not really: 1. no counter weight on the back obviously, so the bulk of the weight is in the front, so for truly steady movements you MUST - have a very tight grip on the handle - tighten up your arm muscles as if you are flexing - pull the weight of the camera towards you into your shoulder you will get steadiness with good movements, even for very long continuous shots, you can hold it for very long with the best comfort possible. you do not need a counterweight, this compact product was not designed for that. 2. the piece that rests up against your chest/shoulder is not exactly a furry love sofa, but its still somewhat comfortable hard rubber. but this piece is the most customizable of the entire unit, so you'll find the perfect spot: in between the top corner of your chest and where your shoulder begins. the valley i guess you can call it. i use it on my right shoulder and i like to have the butt piece turned slightly to the left to kind of dig into my shoulder (without pain). i think for what this product was designed for, its succeeds greatly. i'm a professional videographer & video producer, and a hobby photographer. i write long in depth reviews to help people like myself who can't stand reviewers that (1) add very vague support details (2) one liners with absolutely no useful information or (3) are consumers who dont really know what they're talking about and are reviewing with absurd/nonsense foundations. i think BH should require a minimum amount of say 2 paragraphs for each review but that's a different story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built, good price This rig is a perfect match for my Panasonic GH3. It's very well built for the money. I spent a bunch of money on a zacuto rig about 2 years ago, but recently sold it. The cinevate rig does not have the same level of build quality as the zacuto, but the zacuto also cost about 10x as much. I bought the cinevate rig, a monopod, a tripod, and a field monitor with the money I made selling the zacuto. In my mind, a shoulder rig is all about run and guy shooting. The zacuto was too big and bulky, requiring it's own bag and counterweights and whatnot. The cinevate can actually fold up and fit in my camera bag. Big complex shoulder rigs are completely unnecessary for little cameras like the GH3. This rig strikes the perfect balance between size and stability.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good product but ... the product is well made. It really helps to stabilize. But for some reasons for the one I received, all the parts were welded and absolutely not customizable. I had bought some spare parts to be able to work with different setups but I had to give up. Eventually I was able to unscrew some parts but not all of them. I could never have an answer from cinevate explaining me why it came like that. For those reasons 2 stars and a half.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for light camera Was looking for an inexpensive option, for shooting video with a light weight camera. Saw,this item go on sale, and decided to pick one up. For what it is, it does a great job. Have to really crank down the knobs to keep things from slipping. Wasn't interested in this at full price, but for almost half off, was,a good value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Basic DSLR support rig Useful support rig for shooting DSLR video with a Canon 5D Mark II. It does help stabilize the camera. I can see the need/benefit for Cinevate's Cyclops (viewfinder).
