The Phoenix Jr. Infrared Beacon from US Night Vision is a durable low-cost marker beacon designed for individual combat marking. It is commonly used in the field for vehicle marking, drop zone signaling, perimeter indication, and discriminating friendly forces from small arms fire. Since its introduction in 1984, the Phoenix Jr. is among the most popular electronic combat ID systems in use by US and Allied Armed Forces.
The Phoenix Jr. provides 240 x 360 degree coverage in a lightweight energy-efficient 3 LED lighting configuration. Activate the beacon simply by attaching a 9-volt battery. The 20 millisecond fixed flash signature is intended to distinguish the Phoenix Jr. from other beacons and identification systems.

Reliability
Utilized by American and Allied Armed Forces for a wide range of tasks, the Phoenix Jr. has seen action in Kosovo, Bosnia, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq. This Beacon is useful in combat for marking personnel, vehicles, boundaries, and drop zones.
Distinct Flash Signature
By flashing at a rate one-fourth of the Phoenix Jr. Intruder Beacon, the standard Phoenix Jr. Beacon is easy to differentiate from perimeter identification signals and small arms fire.
Optional Waterproofing
Use the Poseidon Mounting Clip to create a water tight casing for the Phoenix Jr. and battery assembly. Without the Poseidon case, the beacon will continue to operate in water until the battery contacts fail from electrolytic corrosion.
