Vello HSA-CCS Overview

Vello's Hot Shoe Adapter to Convert Standard Hot Shoe to Sony Hot Shoe allows you to use Sony or Minolta hot shoe mount flashes (or other accessories) on a camera with a standard hot shoe. Because Sony uses a proprietary hot shoe type, Sony (and Minolta) hot shoe accessories could not be used with any other brand cameras - until now.

In addition, this adapter allows you to add a PC connection to any camera or flash that does not come with a built-in PC sync connection, while still retaining the existing hot shoe functionality (manual mode only, non-TTL).

Note:
Note! This adapter does not support TTL flash operation.
Note! This adapter does not provide high-voltage sync protection, and is not recommended for use with flash units that have a trigger voltage of more than 6V.
Converts standard hot shoe to proprietary Sony hot shoe
Adds PC socket to cameras or flashes that don't have one

This works with canon hot shoe? And output sony multi-interface shoe?
Asked by: Mohamed
The Vello HSA-CCS has a universal style shoe on the base which allows it to be used on cameras with a standard hotshoe configuration. This includes most Canon, Nikon and Pentax cameras along with other brands as well. The hotshoe on top of the HSA-CCS is a Sony Alpha / Minolta style shoe mount, not the current Sony Multi-Termnial shoe mount. NOTE: This adapter allows a Sony Alpha or Minolta style flash unit to be used on a variety of cameras with standard hotshoes, however it does NOT support any TTL exposure modes. The only available exposure mode is Manual.

question

What kind of PC cord will work with this adapter?
Asked by: Anonymous
This adapter uses a standard male PC cord connection. And the other end depends on the flash you are using. This is a link for many PC cords, http://bhpho.to/1dgEEas

question

Hi, is this shoe adapter is compatible with the Sony A7 basic shoe? If I plug a synchro cord from my opus studio flashes directly to that vello shoe...is that working?
Asked by: Olivier F.
No, that will not work. For the multi-face shoe you need an adapter like this one, Vello HSA-CSMSA Multi-Interface to Sony/Minolta Shoe Adapter B&H # VEHSACSMSA MFR # HSA-CSMSA.

question

I am looking for an adapter to mount a Sony Flash on a light stand. I notice this doesn't have 1/4 screw threads. Is there an alternative that does without the addition of the PC cord? Is this the best mount for a light stand type connector?
Asked by: Peter
I use a Sony FA-CS1AM adapter to mount an autolock flash on a tripod. That adapter also fits a ball head which locks onto the non-threaded post of the light stand. You will need both items for each flash to be mounted. I operate the flashes by wireless remote although the adapters have a cable socket. I would suspect that the ball heads are available for most lighting kit.
