- For Wimberley Head Version II (WH-200)
- Enables Side-Mounting Your Lens
- Easy 2-Step Conversion Back and Forth
- Vertical Arca-Swiss-Style QR Clamp
The Wimberley CK-100 Sidemount Conversion Kit allows you to replace the swinging gimbal arm and Arca-style quick-release platform of the Wimberley Head Version II (WH-200) with a side-mounted Wimberley quick-release clamp, effectively turning it into the WH-200-S Sidemount Wimberley Head.
More DetailsThis enables you to side-mount your lens, which results in a head with a slimmer profile that weighs almost a pound less than the classic Wimberley Head. To make the conversion, just unscrew two screws using the supplied Allen key and remove the gimbal arm & platform, then screw in the CK-100 piece, a vertically oriented Arca-Swiss-style platform that's 2.5" wide. (To switch back to the classic Wimberley Head, simply reverse the process.)

question
Astrophotography using 7D Mk II and Canon EF 8-15mm Fisheye with 2 plates on the 7D so it can be mounted facing forward on Wimberley 200 gimbal. Only horizontal images possible with non-collared lens (weight of gimbal destabilises tripod if swing center column 90 degrees to vertical). Sidemount conversion will give vertical image only, right? UGH. Has anyone used an L bracket on the Sidemount conversion?
I use a Kirk L plate on my Nikon D810 and have used it with the sidemount conversion with no problems.
