The Axis Communications Q7401 Video Encoder (Barebone, Single Channel) with H.264 video compression format offers optimized bandwidth and storage efficiency by reducing the bit rate without hampering the image quality. MJPEG format is also supported for enhanced flexibility. Delivering multiple H.264 streams, it individually configures the video streams with a resolution up to 720 x 480 NTSC D1 / 720 x 576 PAL D1. With the image setting adjustments, you can improve the image quality before the image encoding takes place.
Tamper Detection allows the encoder to detect and respond when it is redirected, blocked, defocused, or spray-printed; hence it is suitable for tamper-prone places such as transportation stations and prisons. Other intelligent video capabilities include video motion detection and audio detection where the Q7401 Video Encoder’s inputs and outputs connect to the sensors and devices and enable the system to retort to alarms and activate lights. When used with the Axis Camera Station, the encoder allows for event search, live image viewing, log files and configuration check, as well as remote connections.
The Q7401 Video Encoder supports Power over Ethernet (IEEE802.3af) that supplies power to the camera from the network itself without any extra wiring for auxiliary power outlets. Two-way audio support allows you to communicate with visitors or potential intruders from the operator’s base station with a built-in microphone. With full duplex audio streaming, voices can be transmitted in both directions at the same time. The SD/SDHC memory card slot provides for on-board storage.
Supporting the Axis Video Hosting System (AVHS) software with a 1-click camera connection, the Q7401 Video Encoder can create a service provider-specific portal for managing video monitoring over the network. Management is centralized; therefore on-site maintenance is not necessary. It can be connected to the video service portal via any internet based PC, laptops or mobile phones to watch live videos.
VAPIX is an API (Application Programming Interface) created by Axis for cost efficiency, flexibility, scalability, and integration with other systems. The encoder supports HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol over SSL), which protects streaming data transmission across the network. With support for ONVIF, the device easily integrates with other ONVIF-conformant network video products.
