Axis Communications M3203 Overview

The Axis Communications M3203 Surveillance Kit (Camera Station / 4 Cameras) consists of 4 cameras and camera station software. With a 1/4” progressive scan RGB CMOS image sensor, the camera provides high-quality crisp and clear images in H.264 and MJPEG formats in SVGA resolution at 30 fps.

With the Tamper Detection feature, the camera detects and responds when it is redirected, blocked, defocused, or spray-painted, making the camera suitable for installation in tamper-prone places such as transportation stations, retail stores, hotels, etc. The camera supports intelligent video capabilities like video motion detection that triggers an alarm when motion is detected in a designated portion of the video display. The M3203 Network Camera also supports HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol over SSL), which protects streaming data transmission across the network with preserved performance.

Power is supplied to the camera through PoE (IEEE 802.3af); hence the camera gets power from the network itself without any extra wiring for auxiliary power outlets. The IP address filtering restricts system-access and system-control to selected users. The network camera also includes the pixel counter function that calculates the number of pixels contained in a given part of the image, for example a person's face. This makes the camera suitable for use in legal cases for satisfying certain jurisdictions that require proof of resolution before an image can be submitted as evidence.
The camera supports AVHS (Axis Video Hosting System) with a one-click camera connection that provides secure internet access to live and recorded videos from anywhere.

The single unit Axis camera station software allows efficient management of up to 50 cameras and their videos in the system. With the H.264 video compression support, the bandwidth and storage efficiency is optimized, reducing the bit rate without hampering the image quality. Integrated site maps provide a full overview of the monitored area and access to any Axis network camera in the installation.

You can use a joystick or mouse to control the PTZ functions. In addition to the scheduled and event-driven recordings that are triggered by motion or external inputs, the software also supports manual recording that is triggered directly by the live view interface. The camera station uses the camera based motion detection to save bandwidth and disk space.
