The K-Tek KE-79CCR Traveler Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole provides a moderately priced, lightweight boompole solution for ENG, EFP and other field recording applications. Its sturdy aluminum design is tough enough to endure the rigors of road use while remaining lightweight and travel worthy. This pole features an internally coiled cable and right angled XLR connection at the base of the pole. A total of 6 aluminum sections telescope between 1' 8" - 6' 7" (0.54 - 2.04m) and will easily store in any standard equipment case. The captive-collet coupling system locks each section in place for even further reliability.

K-Tek KE-79 Reviews
Lovely other than 1 thing
Love the boom pole, it works great, although I have a problem when shrinking it back down to storage size. The internal cable gets bunched up and can make it very hard to make it small again.
Best Feature: its Compact size
The 7' extended length of the K-Tek KE-79CCR is too short for many applications, however, it will work for stationary interviews. The stationary interview use is also ideal because there is more noise than professionally acceptable from the movement of the internal cable. I dislike the collars that lock the sections into place, as they don't provide a hold that gives me confidence. It feels like a moderate amount of weight or pressure could make the sections slip from their positions, which could mean the sections rotate or collapse during use. It hasn't failed in this way from a few hours of use so far, but like I said, it doesn't inspire trust. You're pretty much paying for the compact size. I can fit this into a variety of bags, and since it's internally cabled, I can get it up and running quickly. I don't feel like it's a great value otherwise. But if you absolutely need a compact boom with an internal cable for stationary audio work, this is my choice for the price.
