The VF14K does differ from the original design. The familiar black enclosure actually contains a conventional glass tube. The glass tube design was chosen for its electrical similarity to the original VF14M. Listening tests show that it is quite difficult to distinguish from originals in good condition (and don't forget the original is approaching 80 years old...4 times its original expected life).
