    Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 reviews

8mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Canon EF is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 297.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice lens, very sharp and fun to use. After reading the reviews i bought this lens. I was surprized at how nice it is. I used a Zeiss 16mm Distagon fisheye lens for over 20 years shooting kodacrome and this lens is just as sharp all the way to the edges.. sure not as exotic, but still empressive. As reviewers suggested i set my lens to f8, distance at 1.5 ft. camera on aperture prefered, balanced the ISO vs shutter speed until I found the right exposure by using the lcd screen.. pretty simple.. Pointing it at the sun I had little flare and the contrast excellent. By tilting the camera the angles are endless. If your having a flat day you'll be happy you had this lens in your bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredible lens for such a great price! Only had this lens for about a week now, but took it out of the box, put it on my Canon 7-D and was lucky enough to catch a good sunset, that night on the Gulf of Mexico. I will tell you, there is a learning curve, since you have to focus. I set the camera's set the aperture. It's appears very sharp. I have ordered some 24 length photos and will know more later. One of the photos that I've atached is a pano, that I took with it. It consists of about 6 images and stitched together with a free, cheap software. It stills looks ok. I'm looking forward to using this as a plaything at first, goes into my professional arsenal!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the money The Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 fisheye is worth every penny. I took this lens with me to the 2012 MLB World Series and got some incredible pictures. The only downside is the awkwardness that comes with coming extremely close up to a person if you want to take a picture of them, but the quality comes out great. Night use of this camera is pretty stellar. If you don't want to spend the big bucks, highly recommend getting this lens. BE FORE WARNED! This is a manual lens so don't plan on using auto-focus. It takes like 5 seconds to get used to it so don't let that scare you off. It's worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rokinon 8mm RULES I wanted to buy a lens to play around with and try something new basically. I made a great choice. I have the standard lens, the zoom stuff and some fast lens, but I liked the artistic approach of the wide fisheye type lenses. Canon makes some great wide lenses, but the money for those can be pricey. With the Rokinon, you don't get all the bells and whistles, but you get a solid producing lens that is manually controlled. You can get some really cool shots, interesing perspectives and with the F/8 can get some truly sharp shots. I look forward to trying the video too...that is going to be fun. If you have some spare money to play with, buy this is a blast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Fun Lens I've Purchased! I bought this lens to replace a 17-40 f/4L that I smashed on the streets of dover dont wear dress shoes to a metal show... I was in a pinch and needed a super wide for an event. for starters the build quality is amazing for a lens of its price point. super smooth focus ring, and the aperture dial give a solid click for feedback. It is very soft at f/3.5 so not the best choice for low light, but nice and sharp stopped down to f/8. Only downside I can think of is that it is fully manual, but on something this wide, just set to infinity and have a blast. I was very skeptical at first, but now I can't decide which Rokinon to buy next.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price but is a compromise Got this to do some time-lapse stuff and to play around with some action stuff. It is manual focus with no confirmation from the camera. No blinking focus points or beeps. The aperture stays locked to what ever you select as if you have DOF preview locked down all the time. Focus at 3.5 then set aperture for exposure. Great for time-lapse since the aperture doesn't move you will not have to deal with flicker. You have to think with this lens or your images will be out of focus. With in an hour of getting the lens I got the hang of it and was having a blast.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the money I been using the Canon 10-22 with my 7D and wanted something wider. This lens fits the bill. Any wider and it would not be usable. The build quality looks to be pretty good. The only issue that I see is that it's not real smooth when you mount the lens on the body. My Canon lenses glide effortlessly into place. This lens feels like it binds a little bit. Since it's a manual lens, you have to focus and adjust the aperture by hand, but if you are using to shooting on manual settings, it's no big deal. The image quality is really pretty good for an inexpensive lens. Obviously the depth of field is quite large, so the need to manually focus is not a big deal. It seems to be durable, but I just the lens recently and haven't used it much in the field.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good performance. This lens was recommended by a friend and the reviews seemed to agree that it was very good value for money. The results have exceeded my expectations and I find the sharpness, contrast and overall performance to be excellent for a lens at this price point.I do have some concern re the durability of the lens coating which was noticeable on another lens of the same type but this may have resulted from poor cleaning procedures.A great, fun lens that provides some very interesting effects if you're ok with manual focus and aperture settings.
