    Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 reviews

8mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Nikon F is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 103.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works wihout a chip for D7100 This is an update for my last review. This lens works with the D7100 in full manual. Although it does not have the chip for exposure, it will allow you to get exposure meter, aperture readings, ISO readings, and focus rangefinder. All on the D7100. This is not the case with D3200. Thus, no need to get the chipped version if you have a D7100. Also, it records the EXIF data to the file. On the D7100 all you do is go to Non-CPU lens option, and enter in f/3.5, and 8mm. The camera stores the data and applies the adjustments whenever you attach the lens. Great lens for a good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ice cream and apple pie Lets be honnest, a fisheye lens is not your ordinary day to day primary tool. It is more like an ice cream and apple pie treat for a diabetic. You'll use it once in a while and less. So, why pay for a top quality fisheye when you can get the same performance from this little guy? OK, it is not an AF lens.....SO what!!! The DOF is so great, you set focus at 10 feet and never touch it again. Your images will remain crystal clear shot after shot for a fraction of the price! I'm not kiding, I love it! Sorry, I have to leave, the apple pie is ready in the microwave! Norm

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Fisheye, For The Price So far I'm 100% happy with this lens.. There is no auto anything. If your camera supports the Non CPU lenses it will work great. I use this on the D7000. When I first put the lens on, it wouldn't meter right. If you setup the non cpu settings in your camera, if your camera is able to do that. Metering with this lens, is a little off, but again not a big problem. Just shoot in manual, and shouldn't be a problem. Manual focus is not a problem. Again like said in other reviews pretty much anything f/8 or smaller. Everything is pretty much in focus. Unless your up close. Then you will notice anything out of focus. Over all, so far 100% happy with this lens. For the price it can't be beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Cool Fisheye I've wanted a fisheye for a very long time now but couldn't justify spending the Nikon equivalent at $! I use this on my Nikon D7000 and it works great! The all manual part is not that big a deal and only takes a minute to get used to. The only downside to this lens it the manual focus. It's probably the most smoothest focus ring i've ever used, however, it's nearly impossible to tell if you're in focus or not. This is simply because the field of view is so wide. Since this is a party lens and creative lens anyways, i don't think thats a big a deal. Very solid build and nice and weighty as i like to say. Doesn't feel cheap and it's good quality glass. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you're wanting a fisheye and you wanna save some mula!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bang for the Buck I purchased this lens for my IR converted Nikon D7000. Works great for that purpose because it's sharp and doesn't produce hot spots. Some of my much more expensive lenses are useless for infrared photography. The Rokinon 8 also works well with my D800 in DX mode. Combined with Photoshop's Adaptive Wide Angle distortion feature, there's a lot of fun and creativity potential with this moderately priced lens. And, it's very gratifying for an old film guy to have an aperture ring to turn again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enhances Color, Very Useful Lens The image from this lens is incredible! Besides the fish eye effect, the colors seem more saturated than with other lenses. Love the fish eye effect. I took a group photo with 35 people lined up in 3 rows, was standing less than 5' from the front row, got everyone in the shot with room to spare. Only drawback I could find is my feet in the picture if not careful. All manual slows things down a little, but is easy to work with. Lens has solid feel, not cheap. Some care needed with front lens element since skylight filters not an option for protection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional lens for the creative eye To start off I use a Nikon d7100, and shoot completely manual at all times. This lens is preferably NOT for full-size image sensors to keep in mind. So a lot of the complaints I read about this lens was about how it doesnt respond to their camera (electronically), or it lacks an auto focus. With the D7100, the light meter system does work and the aperture indicators do show up on the viewfinder, but it is a fully manual lens. Thus meaning you have to take your hand and manually move the inner ring to adjust. It is a shame people lack and/or dont like how simple and old school this is. The quality of the build is where it needs to be. It's sturdy, the focus and aperture rings are very smooth and have the right amount of drag, and the glass is flawless. The lens cover is a little on the cheap side and doesnt take much to knock off, but who buys a lens for the cover? Images are brilliant with the Rokinon (I only use RAW format). It holds a great tonal range and does very well with highlights in the upper end (I tend to over expose and back down post-capture for better tones).Don't expect to use this lens in low light conditions with out a tripod or flash. But if you want to capture some vast skys and landscape this is for you, especially long exposures!I am overall very pleased that I purchased this lens compared to some of the steepers prices out there these days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Fisheye Lens on a budget! What I really like about this lens is that it actually fits the camera. What Ive found with a lot of these non brand fisheye lenses is that they do not offer the full picture. Others that I tried would have black corners in the image for the inside of the lens. With photos that is easy to crop but with video that bugged the hell out of me. But with the rokinon this was not a problem it fit my Nikon D7100 great. Also an added bonus is that the yellow ring matches nikons colors
