Jobu Design TTP overview

  • 1Description

The Joby Design Table Top Pod is a low-profile, eminently stable platform for your DSLR or other camera. It's perfect for attaching a ball head or small gimbal, for positioning your camera within a light tent for product photography or other studio work. Or take the platform outside and shoot from a bean bag or any flat surface. The wide and deep (8 x 4") Table Top Pod lets you position the head without compromising your sturdy base of support.

The sleek Table Top Pod is CNC-machined from 100% aluminum billet. Four rubberized feet keep it in place. With its 3/8"-16 mounting stud, any compatible ball head or other device attaches easily. There's also an included set-screw for securing your ball head or gimbal – it's designed not to vibrate out.

    Jobu Design TTP reviews

Table Top Pod is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stupidly Brilliant. There are a few versions of this type of thing out there, which is essentially a flat foot for a tripod head. This is, I believe, the simplest, most affordable, and probably most elegant option. It's smaller than I thought it would be, but nonetheless quite stable when oriented in the correct direction of the weight distribution. It has given new life to my old original ball head, since replaced on working tripods by pistol-grip, 3-way, fluid pan/tilt and lighter models, and is now my go-to macro shot platform solution for small objects. It even comes with its own wrench for tightening the anchor screw (yes, it has one of those).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect small ground tripod I bought this for a time lapse set up, in which I needed to put a mirrorless camera in a third floor window for a day. I have a few mini tripods but they aren't solid enough and they are easily knocked out of place or vibrate when someone walks by. This tripod is really just a small metal plate with four rubber feet. It's about the size of a paperback book, and comes with a standard 3/8-inch screw to attach a ball head. It can be placed on the ground, a table, a shelf, a window sill, or some other flat surface, then held in place with a sandbag (which is what I used) or possibly tent stakes if placed on the ground. It worked perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the weight. Being crafted from aluminum? It is a beautiful little piece of machined machinery. I bought it to mount a $10,000 Linhoff panoramic camera on. Camera and lens and ball head must weight 7 lbs. The measurements of the rig are about 12 front to back, 10 inches high and 9 inches wide; and the little machined of aluminum table top design works! I was stunned and gratified that I didn't have to mail the thing back. Now I don't have to take the time effort and bother of putting the Linhoff on a tripod, I just leave it attached to this thing, and I am ready quicker than you can say Winnogrand. Now, if I could just find a waterprrof case that was 12x12x12 or a hatbox maybe?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A small stable platform I use it for a low angle of view in bird photography. Whether used in combination with a Frisbee or beanbag, it provides a stable platform for my 500mm F4 or 70-200mm mounted on a gimbal or ballhead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable platform for the 800mm Just used the Joni table top pod on a Frisbee to do several days of ground level bird photography on the beaches of Texas Coastal Bend. Very stable, very well made - no issues supporting my Canon 800 and body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for travel! This awesome and a must have for the travelling photographer... this and a ball head mounted ( RRS BH-40LR is mine ) and you get a compact and amazing stable shooting platform for anytime a tripod is just awkward. Think Europe - Old buildings where tripod can't be used. Fantastic, strong and light weight (291grams on my scales.) Glad I got it !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with this for macro I have found that using this with theJOBU 3.5 Riser Block, a really right stuff ball head, and a really right stuffB150-B macro focusing rail works well for macro shots. Very stable. You can also put a little weight on the pod if you want but so far it is very stable without it.
