  • 1Description

Caution! Once you pick up this sweet Canon PowerShot SD4500 IS Digital ELPH Camera (Brown), you might give up your favorite reality show for the brilliant images you make yourself--with a 10MP sensor, 10x 36-360mm (equivalent) zoom lens that takes you from wide-angle to a super telephoto in a flash, and a bright 3" LCD display, this ELPH lives up to and surpasses its illustrious ELPH ancestors.

A DIGIC 4 Image Processor and sensitivity up to ISO 3200 makes it possible to capture beautiful pictures even in low light using programs like Handheld Night Scene and Best Image Selection (which takes 5 photos in rapid succession and picks the best). A vast range of shooting modes gives you the best possible photo for any given situation: Portrait, Kids & Pets, High-Speed Burst (shoots 8.8 frames/second),  Smart Auto, Super Vivid (for the most saturated colors), Fisheye, Miniature, Beach, Foliage, Snow, Fireworks, Stitch Assist (for making awesome panoramas from 3 photos)--you get the picture, right?

On top of all these goodies, the SD4500 IS ELPH shoots magnificent 1920 x 1080 HD video and has a really cool slow motion function (recorded at 240 frames/second). And there's more, much more--after all, it's an ELPH.

10x optical zoom in a slim, stylish camera body. You are never too far away from that perfect shot!
10.0 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor combined with the DIGIC 4 Image Processor create Canon's HS SYSTEM for improved low light performance and better image quality.
Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels at 24 fps) video mode plus HDMI output for easy playback of videos and photos on your HDTV.
Advanced Smart AUTO now identifies 28 shooting scenes, making automatic shooting even more intelligent.
Shoot slow motion video with the Super Slow Motion Movie function and playback videos at 30fps.
High-Speed Burst mode for capturing sports and action shots.
Cool new features like Best Image Selection and Handheld Night Scene give you greater flexibility when shooting your favorite images.

Shoot Modes

Smart AUTO--the camera automatically selects the best shooting settings for optimal quality based on subjects and environmental factors to provide point-and-shoot simplicity.
P Program--access advanced exposure compensation features while shooting mostly automatically.
Portrait--the camera sets a large aperture, focusing the subject and artistically blurring the background to make your subject "pop."
Kids & Pets--reduced focusing time freezes fast-moving subjects, so you won't miss those special shots.
Smart Shutter--the camera automatically takes the photo when people smile, wink, or get into frame.
High-speed Burst--the camera shoots continuously at a high speed of approx. 8.8fps while you hold down the shutter.
Best Image Selection--the camera takes five photos in succession, and then chooses the best one out of the bunch.
Handheld Night Scene--suppresses image blur even without the help of a tripod.
Low Light--for high quality image capture in an amazing range of dimly-lit situations.
Super Vivid--super Vivid intensifies existing hues, saturating the scene with bright colors.
Poster Effect--poster Effect combines several similar shades into one color, turning subtle gradations into eye-catching, scene-popping contrasts.
Color Accent--choose to retain a single color in your image while other colors turn monochrome.
Color Swap--select a color and replace it with a color you specify for special effects.
Fisheye Effect--add a classic photo distortion without a fisheye lens.
Miniature Effect--give images a miniature look with an effect that emphasizes perspective by blurring the top and bottom of the image.
Beach--get clear shots of people at a sunny beach without darkened faces.
Foliage--capture brilliant shots of autumn foliage, greenery and blossoms.
Snow--shoot clear snow scenes without darkened subjects or an unnatural bluish tint.
Fireworks--grab brilliant images of skyrocketing fireworks.
Long Shutter--use to blur moving subjects for artistic effect, ideal for urban night photography.
Stitch Assist--build awe-inspiring panoramas by neatly aligning sequential images.

    Canon 4612B003AA reviews

PowerShot SD4500 IS Digital ELPH Camera (Brown) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Outdoors, Lacks Low Light Indoors Just got the camera and took it on a trip to San Diego...it took forever to focus in the low light indoor hotel ballroom and the pictures were not very good--couldn't tell if I was too far from the group with the flash or if the flash didn't work...could be user error...camera took GREAT pictures outdoors at the San Diego Zoo--big zoom came in handy! Camera takes awhile to get used to since you have to search for the functions/menu options but once you learn your way around, it's not so bad. If I can figure out how to get great indoor shots, I'll give the camera a higher rating but for a point-and-shoot, it shouldn't be this hard...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Canon Power Shot SD 4500 IS I use the product to shoot a lot of family scenes and events. A lot of fast moving children. Auto function is a little klugy when used inside. in some situations the flash does not fire and I have had a number of under exposed pictures and some blurred pictures. Also, erasing is a four step process if you have left the cursor on the trash can otherwise it is five step. Zoom works quite well and an optical 10x's has some real value. I find using the program mode gives better control of flash and indoor shooting. Nice size. Flash seems to have good depth. As advertised you get about 150 shots on a battery charge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressed with Canon Products I only had this camera for 3 weeks and so far it is meeting my expectations. My biggest gripe thus far is how expensive the batteries are! $ for one extra battery. I wish that Canon could offer a second battery at a special price when one purchases this camera or others as most people would like to have a back up battery. My other complaint is not having an owner's manual included in the box. I have to download it and print it out and it's not as small and convenient to carry this while traveling. I'm really pleased with the 10X optical zoom capabilities for such a small camera. I ordered this specifically for a trip to Southeast Asia and I hope it continues to meet my expectations!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot Lil Camera ... This is the 3rd camera I have purchased from them. They have great prices .... My lil brown camera is the BEST! I opened it up and was amazed how beautiful the brown color is. (More like Bronze) I charged the battery and started to point and shoot at everything in my house including my toes. The LED had instructions along the way. Yep, it tells you what to do and how to do it. Super easy to use. The photos are clear and clean. It gets my 5 star review. Then my boyfriend, who is a semi-pro photographer, took the camera from me to use. He loves it too. He went through all the manual settings and told me that this would probly be the last point and shoot camera that I would ever have to buy. He loves the looks and all the greatest up to date features. Great camera, for a, Great price. Go get one!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact camera I purchased this camera to take along on my vacation so I wouldn't have to tote my larger Canon Rebel XSI everywhere. This camera is small enough to fit in a cargo pocket, or in a case that attached to my belt. It has a lot of different settings to choose from and quiet operation. The only downfall was short battery life, the battery lasted through all the events I took it to but didn't give much warning that it was almost dead once the battery life started to decline. Having read this in other reviews I purchased extra batteries that I had charged and ready to go. Overall it is a great little camera that will be easy to fit in a purse for those 'I wish I had my camera' moments!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Camera I purchased the camera about 2 weeks ago and I am very satisfied with the product. I use it for everyday photos, family & friends photos and specalized photography. The image quality is fantastic and I really enjoy the slow motion video recording which is fun to use. The macro recording is also a very nice feature. One slight downfall is the battery life, but I bought another battery along with the camera which sorts out that problem. Would definitely recommend this camera to anyone interested in a compact camera which is rich in features and has very good immage quality with a great zoom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing indoor pics & ease of use! Lots of complaints about the battery. Just get a back up and carry a charged one with you. It's the price you pay on this camera. The HD video is awesome. I got this specifically because of the setting that help with indoor lighting situations. It is simply outstanding for that. Love the auto and smart settings. I'm a point and shoot girl and need it do the work for me. It does. Pics are clear and amazing. LOVE the 10x optical zoom and the slow mo video. Just perfect for everyday use. But, get that extra battery!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice compact camera! Got this powershot to replace my Canon Rebel T1i for places that were to large for me to carry around. The pictures come out fantastic, the HD video is stunning!Image is sharp and sound is very clear.Easy to use menu, and nice features for different types of shots.Camera body feels strong, not plastic.10x optical zoom is incredible! Only one big disappointment...the battery!! It runs out very quickly.Have to buy me a back-up battery.
