SHAPE MO5100 overview

  • 1Description

The Shape Mountain 5100 Camera Support is an ideal solution for shooting in tight situations with a minimum of gear. The system has 3 components; the vacuum cup, an articulating arm, and a Manfrotto 143BKT camera bracket. Together the three components form the Mountain 5100, which allows you to secure a small camera to nearly any flat surface and the articulating arm allows you to secure it in almost any position.

The suction cup supports up to 7.5 pounds, and is actuated by a built-in thumb actuated pump. The pump features a red indicator line and as you pump, the suction increases. When the red indicator line disappears it indicates the pump is securely attached.

Can be attached to any smooth or relatively smooth nonporous surface: glass, metal, plastic, ceramic and even varnished wood.
Maximum load capacity of 7.5 lb (3.4 kg).
Red line on the pump plunger indicator.
The camera bracket (included) can be replaced by a tripod head (not included).

    SHAPE MO5100 reviews

Mountain 5100 Camera Support is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Support Product came without documentation. SHAPE service is excellent, though and they send me both instructions, for the support and the vacuum cup. The only drawback is that I cannot mount my D5100 in an upright position hanging from the windshield down. The provided bracket is too narrow. So I will have to rig something up myself. The quality is great with the exception of one screw that holds the lower bracket in four positions. A spring loaded bolt would be much better to achieve the same result. The support has not been used as of yet, due to the fact that my Nikon does not fit the way I need/want it. But I will keep you updated.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good support Very sturdy overall. Suction system works well. I chose this over the Matthews support because I needed the extra height of the articulating arm. Ideally I needed something in-between the ball head of the Matthews and the arm to give more angle flexibility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing really sucks Suction-wise, that is. I did some time-lapse street shots using it stuck to my glass balcony while holding my Canon DSLR. I tied a rope around it just to be safe, but I needn't have bothered, as it stayed firmly in place for hours of automated photography. Note too that the unit is configurable enough that it can accommodate any possible position for the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A simple product that worked I mounted the camera support to the inner-side of my car's winshield. The suction cup held the apparatus and the camera-lens combo it supported (a Canon 6D and Sigma 50 mm Art). A larger camera might need a longer mount. A smaller camera with a ball head might help in some cases. The product is pricey. But it worked for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little support Works great, holds tightly onto smooth surfaces. It's solidly built and it's a Shape product so you know it's gonna last for long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from strong & steady I take video of digital billboards... and this allows me to do that. I was hoping to use a digital video camera like in the photo but my will not fit. For me it works best with a DSLR.
