Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I ordered 4 of these to use with my Broadcasting classes NewTek Tricaster. For any of you using a TriCaster they have component level imputs for HD. Most consumer level cameras will output in HD, but only via HDMI (not component video).I took the HDMI output from a inexpensive Sony camcorder into the KanexPro, then component video from the KanexPro into the TriCaster. Worked like a charm. I also tried it with a slightly higher end Canon camcorder and the NewTek would not recongnize it. I believe this is becuas the Canon would only output at 1080P, and the NewTek only supports up to 1080i. Not the Kanex Pro's fault...but just be warned that if you are attemting to get HDMI inputs on your TriCaster using the Kanex Pro adapters, not all cameras will work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Converter and chromecast a no-go Though B&H's technical support assured me this video converter would allow me to use the Google Chromecast to work, thereby making it possible to wirelessly surf the web and play videos with my HD component TV, this turned out not to be the case, unfortunately. All I was able to get were angular running lines on the TV screen but no picture and no sound. B&H customer support was very understanding and helpful as they allowed me to return the item for a full refund. In future, I will not hesitate to shop with B&H. They stand by their products and service is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New + Old Technology - Outlawed If you are going to connect a 2014 Blu Ray with HDMI only connection through a Kanex Pro HDMI to component converter to a analog/digital TV with no hdmi input, it will NOT work due to new laws passed by the government for the sake of the entertainment industry.*I did not know this until I tried to connect the two. Basically if you have an OLD TV with no hdmi input , your stuck or you have to find and purchase a Blu Ray that was built before 1/1/2013with component/composite cables .I'm sure the KanexPro converter would be a good purchase otherwise. Can't really rate the product since I returned it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Effective and cost effective I'm using this box to connect an Apple TV (3rd gen) to a Sony Wega XBR950 KDE50 Plasma TV circa 2004 that does not have an HDMI port. The only available port is component with audio. The box does not do scaling automatically so getting it set up on the TV was a little difficult because the divergent resolutions of the Apple TV and the Plasma display scrambled the image so that I could not see the menu options. Finally I had to use the universal access features on the apple TV to hear the menu options and change the output resolution of the Apple TV. Now that it's all set up it works like a charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Discovery for Older TVs I have been waiting to purchase a new OLED to replace my aging Plasma TV. The Plasma has no HDMI inputs so I am stuck with large cables and a mess of component connections. After a search for a solution, the folks at B & H suggested this little conversion box. The KANEXPro worked right out of the box and delivers excellent picture and sound. Blue Ray, PVR, Amp, are all connected and operating normally. Bought myself another year before moving on to OLED! Thanks for the telephone help from B&H experts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No go with Apple TV v2 or v3 I was quite interested in this converter, since lightning took out the HDMI port on our TV. But I checked out the warning in the last line of the description, and, sure enough, the Apple TV v2 and v3 does use HDCP encrypted HDMI. (Just another way to keep your TV from working with your equipment, brought to you by the friendly folks at Big Media.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Response Purchases this unit about 2 weeks ago and sent an email to the customer servie department relating to the output to the compentnt types vailable with the unit. Received answer that the unit would only output in the 1080p configuration. Went to their websiet and found specifications for the unit that indicated that the unit would convert to both 1080i and 1080p. Sent another email to customer service to clarify since my pronection TV 0nly accepts 1080i. To this date have had no response to the last email. Use caution when selecting these units.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Effective, But Could Be Improved I bought the KanexPro HDMI to component convertor so I can use my Ma ini on my older Sony VW10HT projector, and also split it off to other flat panel HDTVs. My projector was able to accept 720p and 1080i from the KanexPro. My other TVs were also able to accept 1080p over component. However best common mode for me is 720p, so I am using that. My single issue is that the image is shifted over the the left, and there is no way to adjust that. I was able to use the Mac's over/underscan controls, plus the TV and projector's adjustment controls to make it acceptable, but it's too far to the left to completely fix, but I'll live with it. For the price, it's a good unit, but not perfect.
