Bought it as a spare when I used the original spare to repair a Gitzo Explorer that got stepped on the wrong way. I was only without a tripod for about a half hour as it was not a problem to replace.

Inexpensive fix for a very expensive tripod

The original clamp had a small crack in it that kept it from closing tightly and trying to tighten the screw eventually broke the original completely. This was easy to replace and the tripod is good as new - better than spending $600 for a new one!
