The Telex RTV-04 is a replacement for a similar device supplied back in the late '70's, early 80's by the manufactured of a device utilized by those who stammer/stutter. I've looked for years for a replacement, and this fills the bill exactly, both electrically and mechanically. I am totally pleased with this device and have had very little problems with it.

I have a custom molded earpiece connected to a ...
I have a custom molded earpiece connected to a Telex ET-4 tube, an RTR-04 (15 ohm) Telethin receiver and Telex CMT-98 cable that I used for IFB back when I worked in TV news. I would now like to use the earpiece with my laptop on when participating in video conferences. I bought a 3.5mm TRS stereo male plug to 3.5mm TS female plug adapter for the CMT-98 cable, and plugged it into my laptop. But the volume level coming out of the RTR-04 Receiver - even with my laptop volume cranked up full - is so low it is unusable. I tried the same set-up plugged into a speaker system I use on my desktop PC and still couldn't get much volume from the RTR-04 Receiver.
Do you know if it work if I replaced the RTR-04 (15 ohm) Receiver with the RTV-04 (125 ohm) Telethin receiver? If not, any other suggestions?
I don't think the problem is the receiver you are using. You will want to use a headphone amplifier to have more volume and to be able to easily adjust the volume level. JK Audio's RemoteAmp Headphone/Earpiece Amplifier (B&H# JKRAMP) is a good option for an earpiece, but may be more than you want to invest. Perhaps the Polsen PMA-1 Personal Monitor Amplifier (B&H# POPMA1) will suit your needs. It also includes an input for a mic which may be useful for other purposes, but the monitoring section for headphones should serve its purpose. You would just need to use a 3.5mm TRS male to 1/4" TRS male cable between the headphone out jack on your computer and monitor in jack on the headphone amp. The Hosa Technology Stereo Mini Male to Stereo 1/4" Male Cable - 3' (B&H# HOSMMSPM3) will provide that connection.
