The EC-UEIS7 USB 2.0 and eSATA to IDE or SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure from Sabrent is a super-easy way to convert an internal standard-sized 3.5" SATA or IDE/PATA hard drive to an external drive. Sabrent EC-UEIS7 reviews

EC-UEIS7 USB 2.0 and eSATA to IDE or SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Piece for Sure Don't know what the other complaints were about, if you are a handy person that knows what your doing, any 3.5 drive fits in here just snug enough to assemble easily. This thing 100% saved me. I had my old drive go out I thought. Panicked. But I heard the drive spinning up every time I turned it on. It just stopped being recognized by any and all computers, disk utilities, etc.. Last hope, it was not the drive itself but the casing it was in. So I bought this. Took my old drive out of its old casing (boy that was crazy), and then installed it in this case. It worked immediately and beautifully ! My old drive car had no fan and no power button. So this one is a complete upgrade both atheistically and functionally.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad if using USB I put a 1tb HD in this enclosure and it worked fine after a little playing around in the computer management screen(start - right click on Computer in win 7). i was able to format it and give the drive a name. No esata cable comes with the encosure so i ordered one since i have a 2 port esata pci and an esata port on top of the tower. i have tried everything i can think of to get the drive to be seen by win 7 using esata and the best i can do is have the drive info presented by i can't access the drive like i can using usb. all attempts to get tech support for this has been usless. after a few chats with them they seem to have forgotten me. oh well i'll use the usb method or put it in the tower

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This one is a bummer Put simply, it is a piece of junk! I have several other docking stations and SATA and IDE drive enclosures so I do know junk when I see it. There is insufficient room for a 3.5 drive and the attempt to make it an IDE AND a SATA enclosure just utterly flops. I bought it thinking that it was an IDE docking station, something that I wanted but the info on the sale page just wasn't clear enough to me. I wanted an IDE docking station that does not use cables. I now have one that has sockets embedded in plastic as most SATA docking stations have and it does the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A life saver! Contrary to what HighPocks said, this is not junk! Pulled IDE hard drive out of tower running Win 98SE, inserted into enclosure, and transfered files via USB 2 port to laptop running VISTA. There isn't a better way. Snug fit, but not impossible, and who would want their hard drive flopping around inside a can. The only negative is the loose connection to the base stand, which can be fixed with tape, glue, a screw, or a paper shim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again. I use this enclosure to retrieve data from my older computers when I no longer need them, or they don't work anymore. This will support both the old-school IDE interface and the more modern SATA. Without this, I'd have no way to get that data from old HDs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a little tight Easy to assemble and works well. Just slip your internal hard drive into the case and you've built your own external hard drive for half the price. Built in fan protects hard drive from over heating. Simple on/off button that turns on when you click it on and off when you want it off- sounds basic, but I have hard drives that have a recessed push button and sometimes they don't want to shut down. Only issue is that the interior is a little tight, and I felt like I had to shove it in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just what I expected I set up this external enclosure with a 1TB SATA drive. My hard drive is a full height 3.5 drive (not a slim drive) so there was no space left after installing into the enclosure. The hard drive actually is pushing against the fan. I have only used this through the USB interface and was not able to get read speeds higher than 30 Mb/s on my PC and my Mac. Not sure if others have had the same experience. I only need this for routine backups so transfer speed is not critical for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice for the price! I saved a drive from an old Mac. This enclosure is easy to instal the drive inl, and I could access the old files immediately. It looks good too, however these enclosures are always bigger than I expect now that I am used to the small portable drives. There is a plastic stand to keep the drive upright. It snaps on the bottom, but falls off easily. It is annoying enough that I'd like to just throw it away. Otherwise, I'm very happy with my purchase.
