Tripod Gotta New Leg

It's very easy to replace. The only bad part is that it doesn't come with the rubber sleeve. But if you squirt WD 40 under the rubber sleeve from both sides. Using trimmer line jammed in about halfway in the rubber sleeve to allow for movement and flow of WD 40, you can twist it off. Use hairspray to put it on the new one, it's slippery when wet and sticky when dry so you have to do it quick.

Relitively easy repalcment, would like to see a replacment with the foam grip included

question

I have two different 055XB's where one of the legs' locking buttons are stripped. My question is will this tube replacement fix the problem, and if so how does one remove the original tube? They appear to be welded on. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, unfortunately I dont have my 055XB with me at the moment so Im going of memory. You say you have stripped the locking leg buttons - if so then you would need this part - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/775401-REG/manfrotto_r055_524_asm_release_lever.htmlYou may want to check that you havent stripped the locking teeth that the button locks into..I had that on my tripod, also. If so, you would need this part -http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/775398-REG/manfrotto_r055_522_lower_spider.htmlIf you haven't come across it already, here is a breakdown of all the parts that make up the tripod. It may also give you an idea of how it goes together. They wont let me add a link to another site in this reply.....I was just trying to give you a link to a manfrotto PDF of the tripod. If you type in Manfrotto 055XB 20070105 into Google, you should get a link to a manfrotto website where you can click - spare parts, by the specifications and product info. There should be a PDF to open up.If you do take the tripod apart it is quite tricky trying to put it back together. The combination of springs and the correct order, meant I needed a few goes before I got it. Pay attention when you take it apart as to what goes where. You are correct that the leg is welded into the top part of the tripod. I hope im correct in saying you shouldn't need that part if you have stripped something, as there are a few more parts that make up the tripod. Once I pulled my tripod apart it was a lot clearer what I needed. I hope something from that helps. Best of luck.
