Manfrotto FF3512N86 Overview

This is the Manfrotto FF3512N86 Pantograph with Wire Cable (Old Cat. No: 3250/2). The pantograph is made of aluminum and manufactured according to DIN 15560-46. The attachments at both ends of the pantograph are 5/8" (16 mm), female on the top and male on the bottom. The load is supported by a steel cable of 0.08 inch. diameter (safety factor 12). It extends from a closed length of 10.6" (27cm) to a maximum extension of 6.5 feet (200cm)

Loads of up to 26 lb can be suspended using only the friction device, while loads up to a maximum of 40 lb require the use of the optional springs. The pantograph can be adjusted to keep suspended loads from 2 lb to 10 lb perfectly balanced.

The colored notched ring can adjust the pantograph's friction; this will ensure that the load remains stable when set in position, but that it will move smoothly up and down when necessary. It is advisable to use springs to aid raising the pantograph.

When choosing the additional spring (s) for your pantograph, you will first need to know exactly which model of pantograph you have, in order that you can select the spring of the correct length. If you have the new compact pantograph, the TOP 2 version (above) has a red notched ring, while the TOP 4 version has a blue notched ring.

This pantograph holds an HD PTZ Sony camera hanging from the ceiling of a yoga studio. When not in use to record classes, the camera is retracted all the way up and out of the way. This camera used to be hanging from a static arm which gave an awkward angle of viewing since it needed to be out of the reach of arms lifted. Now it hangs dead center and it lowers down to about 7' for a perfect framing when in use.

question

The bottom of this has a non-threaded hole. I can not find the adapter that includes a 5/8 spigot adapter for mounting our lights too. Can anyone share a link or suggestion on getting a light mounted here?
Asked by: Timothy
This pantograph has a 5/8 male pin at one end to accept a lighting fixture while the end with the 5/8 female receiver would secure to the dedicated carriage for the Manfrotto SkyTrack system. If you wanted to use a spigot on the 5/8 receiver then it would be the Manfrotto 013 Double Ended Spigot. Please see the image below for reference.

While the Manfrotto and Foba pantographs look quite similar, we are not aware of any tests that confirm that their parts are interchangeable. Your results may vary.

question

HiI have this short Manfrotto FF3512N86 Pantograph. What spring I need to be able to work within 6-11 kilogram?
Asked by: IEVGEN
If you get the Type 4 Red springs (B&H # MAFF3531) that provides a counterbalanced weight of 3kg to 8kg. If you use two of those springs, it goes from 8kg to 14kg of counterbalanced weight.
