Digieffects' Depth Effect for Buena Depth Cue v2 Plug-in allows you to create grayscale depth maps for your footage. While working on your footage using Adobe After Effects 6.5 and later, you can pre-compose the depth for your video clip increasing the efficacy of your lens blur effect. With support for multiple compound blur effects, the Depth Effect for Buena Depth Cue v2 Plug-in allows you to pull a rack focus effect on your post-production video footage.
Taking the distance between each point on a layer from the camera, the Depth effect provides a grayscale pixel with a brightness that is proportional to the distance. You can use the minimum and maximum input / output depth controls to adjust the values between the minimum and maximum input depth to be in between the minimum and maximum output depths. The result can be used as a gradient map for other effects, or exported for use in a 3D application or another compositing application.
You can use the Curve control to scale the output brightness value via 4 different options including linear, squared, logarithmic, and exponential. You can apply the depth to the RGB channel, or the alpha channel, or both. Complex composition is simplified by the Depth plug-in that allows you to rapidly generate depth maps for it.
The Depth Effect for Buena Depth Cue v2 is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems.
