The Manfrotto 16mm Female Adapter with 3/8" Screw and 80mm Disc is most often used as a stand adapter. The 5/8" (16mm) receiver fits over a 5/8" "Baby" standard stud and is secured with the captive locking thumb screw. The 3/8" (9.5mm) mounting screw is a standard photo hardware size and will fit into a variety of products such as tripod heads. It can also be passed through the yoke on small lights and secured via the wing nut and 3.2" (80mm) disc base.

From time to time while shooting in the field I have the opportunity to create my own equipment. Many lighting accessories can become rearranged by using this Manfrotto adapter. I can eliminate extra light stands by using my Manfrotto 131DDB Lateral Side Arm with multiple speedlights.
We needed to mount an electronic voting system receiver on the top of a light stand that we needed to get above people's heads. We needed a sturdy bracket to mount on the top of the light stand (5/8). This was exactly what we needed, and is more than heavy-duty enough for our purposes. Easy to use and great quality.
